WEDNESDAY 8 May 2019 | TERM 2 A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents/Carers, This term has certainly started on a busy note. Many of our students and teachers joined me on the 25 th April for the ANZAC Day March where we commemorated those who fought for our freedom and those who gave their lives. Our Seniors represented our school well whilst showing their respect by laying a wreath. We then had our school ceremony on Tuesday. It is always wonderful on these occasions to observe the level of respect that our students show. Thank you also, to our parents who made the Ɵme to bring their children in for the march and also to those who marched with us. On Tuesday, our soccer teams competed against Dubbo South. Both teams were beaten by much stronger teams but I congratulate all players on their persistence and their sportsmanship. CongratulaƟons teams and thank you to Mrs Campion for giving your Ɵme to train the teams and for taking them on Tuesday. This week, students aƩended the performance of Billionaire Boy which was supported by a book study. Our students again showed exemplary behaviour and I’m told that the performance was of a very high standard. Coming up over the next two days are our P&C Mother’s Day stall which provides a fabulous opportunity for our children to purchase a giŌ for their special Mum and from me, I hope all of our Mum’s have a very special day on Sunday. We are also honoured to have been given the opportunity to host the Barbershop Walkabout who will visit the school on Friday. The day will consist of a trauma and recovery workshop which deals with past and present trauma, free haircuts and a free BBQ. I look forward to seeing you then. Finally, next week sees the commencement of NAPLAN for students in Years 3 and 5. This year, Dubbo West will be involved in NAPLAN online. All tests will be online with the excepƟon of the WriƟng test for Year 3. These tests will occur over the next two weeks with results being forwarded as soon as they become available. Online applicaƟons for tesƟng for next year’s Opportunity Class (Years 5 and 6) are also open with tesƟng being held at Senior Campus later in the year. InformaƟon regarding this has been sent with targeted students, however, if you would like more informaƟon, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school. A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents/Carers,

This term has certainly started on a busy note. Many of our students and teachers joined me on the

Top Tips for Parents—PREVENT YOUR CHILD FROM TALKING TO STRANGERS

There is an op on to turn off the voice chat feature, which means your child wouldn’t be

able to talk to anybody, including their friends. However, they would s ll be able to use

the in‐app chat and hear other people’s conversa ons. To turn off voice chat, open the

Se ng menu in the top right of the main Fortnite page, then click on the cog icon. Open

the audio tab at the top of the screen. From there, you can turn off the voice chat.
