WEEK 3 – TERM 4 – 2017
Principal’s message
As we begin another term I would like to welcome everyone back. I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable break and I look forward to another productive and rewarding term. We have had many of our 2018 Kindergarten parents come in and complete their enrolment forms. I would still love to meet with any parents who would like to bring their child to our school for next year. Please let us know so we can ensure there is a place for your child. Our wonderful Parents and Citizens Association have been working hard throughout the year to support our school. This week was particularly busy with our inaugural Trivia Night and a greatly successful Bunnings BBQ. Volunteers are still required for upcoming events if you are able to spare even an hour of your time please let the front office know and we will pass your details on to the P&C organising committee. All funds raised will go towards improving educational outcomes for all students of Brooke Avenue Public School – your small donation of time is all that is required to make a big difference to a lot of children. So far this year our P&C have directly contributed to the purchase of Library shelving, iPads, Chromebooks, online educational programs for classrooms and the larger project of a digital sign for the front of our school. We are entering the busiest part of the year for both our teachers and students with upcoming events, reports, staffing and classing to be completed. Please share any information with your class teacher that may assist us with class selections. If you have a particular request for your child’s class placement please send in a letter addressed to myself. If possible I will support the request. Please keep in mind that movement of children can be difficult. Many hours are spent ensuring special needs and the social development of students are met. These factors are taken into account when making classes but adapting to change is a life skill and is all part of each child’s developing resilience.
Mr Dalkeith

Stage 1 Excursion -
Rouse Hill Farm
Last Monday, Stage One students were lucky
enough to travel to Rouse Hill House Farm. Upon
arrival students were transported back in time to
the 19th Century and experienced first-hand how
school and farming life was, so long ago.
Students had the opportunity to witness an old-
fashioned classroom setting where our teacher,
Miss Fox, was extremely strict and aimed for
perfection in all areas. Stage 1 learnt how to sew, dance, hang clothes, milk a cow, maintain tack and write
in cursive. They also had the opportunity to dress and act as early English settlers.
It was a fantastic opportunity that linked well to our history unit. Thank you to everyone involved!
Stage 2 Excursion - Rumbalara
In Week 2 of this term, Stage 2 students were lucky enough to visit Rumbalara Reserve. We started with a bushwalk through parts of the Reserve, making our way to the Rumbalara Learning Centre in Gosford. On the walk we came across many different plant species and some of us were lucky enough to see a wallaby. At the centre we became scientist, looking through microscopes, using iPads to research and document things we found and we also looked at the leaf litter for minibeasts. The day was awesome and all students thoroughly enjoyed the learning experience. There were lots of tired little ones after lots of walking too. Mrs Cid-Pinkas
