Week 5 Literacy Monday – After sharing the story ‘In My Heart: A Book of Feelings’ draw a heart and decorate however you like. Support with pen grip if needed. Tuesday – share a rhyming story and encourage children to complete the rhyming word. Recap rhyming words ate the end of the story. Model writing the word of what they draw, ie, shark, dog, pram etc. Have letters on the big screen or iPad for children to refer to as they write. Encourage correct grip. Friday – Today let us write a shopping list. Ask your adults what they need from the shops. When your adult writes their list, you can write yours. See if you can hear the sound at the beginning of the word, for example, b..b..banana, m..m..milk, and ten write it down. Adults to support with letter formation and pen grip.

Week 5 Literacy

Monday – After sharing the story ‘In My Heart: A Book of Feelings’ draw a

heart and decorate however you like. Support with pen grip if needed.

Tuesday – share a rhyming story and encourage children to

Monday – recap numbers from 5-9

Tuesday – hand out a numicon frame to each child. (These can be printed

from the school website or drawn on paper, if working from home) Then ask

them to count how many items they will need to fill their frame. Then ask

them to select items from the tray (cereal/pompoms/water beads/glass

beads etc.. Add use of tweezers if some children need fine motor support))

ask them to count the items in their frame touching each one as they count.

Go around the circle and ask each child to tell everyone their number. When finished, ask each child to pass the frame to the next person. Repeat..

Wednesday – Number 10 song

Look at the number 10 what does it look like, how many fingers do we hold

up for number 10, everyone find 10 items from the basket of items. Use

blocks to make a tower of 10. Find the 10 numicon frame. Extend by asking

how we can make 10

Talk about the ten frame – provide a basket of resources and count together

as items are placed into the ten frame

Ask the children the questions on each page.

Encourage them to write their answer or

show you using either their fingers or blocks.

Provide white boards or paper to write the

answer. Adults join in too and model writing

your answer or show them what you think the

answer is. Try to avoid using negative

comments such as ‘I am rubbish at Maths’. Try to promote positivity about

numbers! This really helps children to see the value of mathematical skills.

Number story - Listen to the online story One Duck Stuck. As the story is

read aloud, pause to count the items in the ten frame at the bottom of the

screen. Provide children with a ten frame each and pause the story giving

them time to count and add counters to represent the number on their ten

frame
