DUNGAY PUBLIC SCHOOL
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Thank you to all the students and parents who brought in permission notes to allow all year 3-6 students to go to cricket last week. It was a fun day for all students and teachers. At Dungay PS we are working to create a culture where students are responsible for bringing their permission notes in on time. We are also trying to create a culture where Dungay students have the confidence to attend special activities
organised by the school even if the student is not enthusiastic about it.
Currently our school library is in the process of being completed. We have had a professional librarian in
to go through our books and setting up the library ready for students to start borrowing in term 4.
Thank you to all the Dungay PS staff who are assisting the swim school program. We have noticed a huge improvement in the confidence and skills of the students who have attended. This is the last week
of the program.
Only two weeks until holidays. Over the next two weeks our school will be involved in the small schools ball games competition and students in Years 4-6 will be involved in our school camp. We currently have Mr Simpson and Mrs Ryan taking well deserved long service leave. Ms Jarvis and Mrs Fairhall will be teaching kindergarten and Year 3/4 respectively. Next week our incredibly hard working Kim, Josh and
Di will be on long service leave.
ENROLLING NOW FOR 2020
Our kindy orientation is starting next term on Tuesday 22 October. We would love to see any parents
who are thinking of enrolling their child at this beautiful school.
If you have a child eligible to commence kindergarten in 2020, or have a friend or neighbour with a child ready to start school please make contact with us as soon as possible. We are proud of the unique,
individualised and high quality of education that is offered at Dungay PS.
Did you know? Dungay PS has a unique setting that consists of open spaces, outdoor learning deck
and tall, magical trees. All creating a calm and productive space to learn, laugh and play.

BALL GAMES
Friday 20 September
This Friday all children will be travelling to Tumbulgum PS for the annual Small Schools Ball Games competition. We will be travelling by bus leaving at 9.15am and returning in time for afternoon buses. Parents are most welcome to attend and can take their child straight to Tumbulgum to meet us there. Our students have been practising with Mr Hollis to fine tune their skills. We expect all students who are
not swimming to attend the ball games.
ARANYANI CAMP
24-26 September 2019
Thank you to all the parents who have paid. Payments close for the camp this Wednesday. Another note will go home this week of a final
reminder as to what is expected from the students at camp.
HAVE YOU DONE AN AUDIT ON YOUR CHILD’S TECHNOLOGY LATELY?
Technology and the use of social media is becoming more prevalent in our families households. Never before have children had access to so many mediums and information. Cyber bullying is becoming one of the most concerning issues around technology and social media. Here are some tips for parents help students to be safe when using
social media.
Please check your child’s social activity weekly. This means checking your child’s accounts such as Minecraft, Instagram,
Facebook, Roblox, Fortnite, Snapchat, etc.
Please monitor conversations your child may be having with friends. Please go through their friends list to see who is able to
access their photos and private information.
Please check to see if your child has ghosting accounts for Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc, meaning students may have created two accounts. This is very common for children, you may
be surprised.
Each week try to create a time where you and your child have open and honest conversations about any social media issues they may have. They will make mistakes and as parents we need
to be there for them, to educate and teach them to be safe.
Please check that your child has not used your credit card or debit card to purchase online resources without your permission.
You may laugh, but this is also very common.
