Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful winter break filled with quality time with family and friends.

Our students and staff are excited to be back and to start off 2017. We have much to look forward to as we begin this new

year. From January 9th to 13th, we’ll be focusing on Multiculturalism at Chantrell. We all come from different parts of the

world to make Surrey and Chantrell Creek home. Students will focus on learning about what is culture. We may come from

different cultures, but we also have a lot of things in common. Next week our students will be learning about different

languages, music, clothing, celebrations and foods. We will end our Multicultural week with a wonderful Taste of Nations

lunch where students will be invited to share a favourite dish that celebrates their family’s heritage. Please look for a

yellow notice regarding this lunch that is coming home with your child today. Students will also be encouraged to wear an

outfit from their culture on Friday, January 13th. We look forward to a wonderful multicultural week!

After Multicultural Week, we will begin preparing for our spring musical The Return of the Glass Slipper! This production

will involve all of our students and will bring our entire community together. Rich learning around the musical will also be

taking place in classrooms during the next two months. We have so much amazing talent at Chantrell Creek and it will be

fantastic to see our students shine! Through our classroom parents, we will be sharing more information in the coming

weeks and asking for your support with different parts of the production.

Kindergarten Registration

We always look forward to welcoming Kindergarten students to school. If you have a child who will be turning 5 before

January 1st, 2018, you are eligible to register them to begin Kindergarten for September 2017. Kindergarten registration at

Chantrell will begin at 9am on Monday, January 16th. Please see the attached document for more information on what

you need to bring with you in order to register your child.
