that for an animal to be Kosher it must chew it’s cud and have split hooves. That should be clear enough.

Then the Torah identifies four animals and notes that they have but one of the Kosher signs and there-

pig has split hooves but does not chew it’s cud. The obvious question is, why list these four animals if I

NURSERY SCHOOL NEWS

Everyone is excited to get back to school after Pesach vacation. The Tiny

Tots are busy preparing for Israel's birthday next week. They made Israeli

flags using blue and white paint. They are also learning some Hebrew

songs to sing at our Yom Haatzmaut celebration, including "Am Yisroel

Chai." The Nursery is enjoying Spring. They are learning about the lifecy-

cle of the butterflies. They made caterpillars and butterflies using tissue

paper, paint and collage. The Pre-k introduced a Spring author, Eric

Carle, into the class this week. They read and looked at many of his

books to see the special techniques he uses to illustrate and write his

books. They made their own "Hungry Caterpillars" using the same art

techniques of layering textures that Eric Carle used in his books. All of the

children have been using math skills and concepts to count the Omer

every day. We also learned the special bracha we recite every night. The

Pre-k made a giant mountain and every day we add a flower to decorate

our "Little Har Sinai."
