The show is directed and acted by students in Amy Ballard’s drama class with on-state support from the 4 th grade class. “Stranded” was written by Megan Ore. The performances are free! Donations are welcome! Shows on Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m.! In the gym! Sand! Sand! SAND!

Dancing Dazzlers! Monday! Free! Soldier-based dance group “The Dancing Dazzlers” will hold a recital Monday, May 4 at 7 p.m. at the high school gym. Free of charge! Dancers aged 4-18 will perform. Three of the group members are dancing this Saturday at the Canyon Rim Dance Classic held at CSI to help raise money for the Cancer Society. ❦

May 8!! Next Friday! Kindergarten registration ‘15-16! Kindergarten Registration and Screening for the 2015-2016 school year will be Friday, May 8 from 3:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. If you have a child who will be in kindergarten next fall, please call the school at 764-2472 to set up an appointment. Screening includes vision, hearing, speech, language and learning. Please bring your child’s birth certificate and updated immunization records. These are required prior to enrollment in May. Child must be age 5 on or before September 1, 2015 in order to enroll! ❦

Project Graduation Potato Bar! Nomz! At the Academic Fair! Support Project Graduation! And meet approved caloric requirements at the same time! A Baked Potato Dinner including potatoes with the fixings, salad, and dessert! Cost: $5 per plate! $17 for a family of four! Do the math! Eat dinner and browse the Academic Fair! This will include all the interesting inventions created by students of all ages for the Teen Technology

CCHS band tackles tough tunes in Burley! Annual Large Group Festival: Camas musicians get high praise for wrangling challenging music!

Box Canyon Nature Excursion! Take a Hike with CSI! Saturday, May 2, 9 a.m. to noon! Box Canyon Nature Preserve! Walk! Only $12! Join CSI Biology Professor, Sarah Harris, and Idaho State Parks Ranger, Eric Whittekiend, on an educational exploration of one of Idaho’s most beautiful spots, the Earl M Hardy Box Canyon Springs Nature Preserve. Still in development as a state park, it is co-managed by The Nature Conservancy and the State of Idaho. The area offers great views of the springs, a platform overlooking the waterfall and the opportunity to see many species of wildlife. Feel free to bring your camera. This easy out-and-back hike is a great way to explore one of Idaho’s many hidden gems. Directions: Take I-84 to Exit #155 in Wendell and go west 3 miles to County Road 1500 East. Turn left (follow the sign to Buhl). Follow this road 3.2 miles to the signed parking lot to the right! For info, call 934-8678! n

The CCHS band performance, led by Tami Runyon, included a number of stout modern pieces: “Big Four March” by Karl L. King, arranged by James Swearingen; “Invicta” by James Swearingen; and “Flourish for Winds” by Gary Fagan. No simple toe-tappers there! At left, we see the CCHS horns and woodwinds warming up in Burley’s warm-up room. The four-Musher percussion section is out of the picture! Carey Invitational Track Results! Mighty Musher Men Take 2nd! Musher runners, chuckers and jumpers in high places made a strong showing at the Carey Invitational Track Meet Thursday. Medal nabbers included Ariel Higgins (3rd in Discus, 2nd in shotput), Erick Peterson (3rd in 200 meters, 1st in 400 meters) Austin Burns (1st in 800 meters), and Isaac Simon (1st in high jump and 2nd in triple jump), and Tana Sabin (3rd in triple jump)! And a special mention for the 1st place finish, with a blistering lead over the Carey pack, in the men’s 4x400 meter relay, run by Austin Burns, Ebie Myles, Nik Roussos, and Erick Peterson! Adriane scoops IAC scholarship!

CCHS senior Adriane McGuire – a standout performer as a scholar, cheerleader, musician and athlete -- was almost surprised on Monday to receive, at the County Commissioner meeting, a $1,000 scholarship from the Idaho Association of Counties. McGuire’s IAC grant is one of seven awarded this year in Idaho. The IAC scholarship is awarded to eligible children of country officials and employees. ❦
