Unit 9: Subtraction Within 20.
Success Criteria: I am able to 1) Subtract a 1-digit number from a 2-digit
number within 20 by subtracting from the 10 first.
Instructions:
1) Log in to SLS.
2) Click/Tap Chapter 9: Subtraction within
20 (Subtract in group of 10).
3) Go through the videos and slides.
4) Firstly is the revision on subtraction to get
a group of 10 first.
5) Then you will learn how to subtract in the
group of 10.

You need this worksheet: LS 8.2: Vocabulary Note to parent: Please ensure that your child shows the annotations when completing this activity. It is a good checking mechanism and a desired skill to make one’s thinking visible.
Success Criteria: I am able to 1) use clues from the text or pictures to
understand the meaning of words. 2) use action words that show fast or slow
movement. Instructions:
1) Refer to worksheet 8.2: Vocabulary on
pages 3 and 4.
2) The letters in the boxes are all jumbled up.
You are required to form a proper word for
each answer based on the annotated
clues given. The first letters are given to
help you more.

Unit 9: Subtraction Within 20. You need this worksheet: Maths WB 1A Part 2 pages 57-68 (stapled set) Note to parent: Please ensure that your child shows the annotations when completing this activity. It is a good checking mechanism and a desired skill to make one’s thinking visible.
Success Criteria: I am able to 1) Subtract a 1-digit number from a 2-digit
number within 20 by subtracting from the 10 first.
Instructions:
2) Refer to Worksheet 4 pages 63-64.
3) You have learnt how to subtract from the
group of 10 first through SLS. You may
want to revisit the SLS lesson again as a
revision before doing the worksheets.
4) For page 63, use the pictures given to
count and check your answers.
5) Look at the example given, 6 planes are
crossed out (subtracted) first from the
group of 10. The remaining number of
planes is your answer.
6) Complete 1 (a), (b) and (c) by showing the
crossing out of objects in the group of 10
and writing out the answers in the
subtraction equations.
7) For questions 2 (a), (b) and (c), the
crossing out of the cubes in the groups of
10 is done for you already. The 2-digit
numbers are broken down for you in tens
and ones also.
8) Look at question 2 (a).2 steps are required
to subtract:
a. Step 1:
As 13 is made up of 10 and 3, take
the 5 to be subtracted from 10;
10 - 5 = 5
b. Step 2:
Then take the remaining 5 to be
added to 3;
5 + 3 = 8
9) Complete the rest of the questions with the
same method. Check you work.
10) Keep this worksheet in your Maths pouch
after completion.
