News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Go to the poor, you will see God. - St. V. de Paul

We’d like to thank the entire OLV Parish family for your ever generous support and we wish you all a deeply spiritual Lenten season. It’s only through your gener-osity that we accomplish all that we do.

Food Pantry: All non-perishable food and toiletry items are gratefully accepted but at the moment we are especially low on peanut butter. We also need: coffee, pasta sauces, canned tuna & chicken, cereals and canned fruit. Donations can be left in the church lob-bies after any mass.

Some of our members also need donations of yarn & quilt batting to make lap robes & blankets for those who are ill or homebound.

Now through the end of April the diocesan SVdP Council is accepting monetary donations for needy children in Perth Amboy who need dresses, veils, suits for their First Communion. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Send to: Mayra Clifford, 5 Mereline Ave., Avenel, NJ 07001. Checks payable to: SVDP Society Metuchen. Memo: First Communion Project. We also gladly accept used Communion dresses, veils and suits.

We are here to help, to serve, and to bring God’s love to those who are poor and suffering. No work of charity is foreign to our soci-ety. If you or someone you know is truly in need please contact us through the parish office. (732) 257-0077

2014 Lenten Adult Faith Enrichment Series “Sacraments and Social Mission”

Mondays: March 24, 31 and April 7 @ 7:30 PM

The sacraments the Church celebrates are signs of grace that make a deeper reality present to us. One reality we encounter through the sacraments is Christ's presence in the Church community, his body. This rec-ognition of Christ's presence in the community should lead to a stronger awareness of being sent on mission to engage in concrete, love-inspired action in the world. Join us as we reflect on this mystery this Lent.
