This week we continue to learn about How Church Works with the
topic How to Sow. On Sunday we looked at 2 Corin-
thians 9:6-15 and talked about how to develop an a lifestyle of
giving. We discovered that in the Christian life weve got to
lose to win.
Opening Prayer
Pray that God would lead each person to trust Him completely and
that your hearts be open to decide how to give gladly,generously,
and courageously.
Family Time
A) Read 2 Corinthians 9:10-11. In these verses we see that God
is the one who gives givers resources to give. In what ways
has God provided for you and your family? These stories of Gods
provision should encourage us to trust God as we give
gladly and bless others generously. How have you been challenged
in the act of giving?
B) Brainstorm creative ways that your Home Group could bless
other people through giving. Examples could include a re-
pair project for a neighbor where you buy all the supplies or
maybe sending a care package to a missionary or a military
service member. Make a plan to do one of your good ideas.
Kids Time
A) Ask the children what they think it means to be generous
(Hint: look for answers about freely giving, sharing, and being
unselfish). Read 2 Corinthians 9:11. Say to the kids, The Bible
tells us that God wants us to be generous with everything
that he has given us. Ask them how they can be generous at home
and at school. If your group likes to color have the
children draw pictures of different ways that they can be
generous. If not, make a list so that you can share it with the
parents later.
B) Make a special dessert like cookies or brownies so that you
can deliver them to your neighbors. As the children help
make and deliver the treats, explain to them that by being
generous and sharing with the neighbors they are showing the
love of God in a practical way.
Adult Time
Spend time talking about giving. What are barriers in your life
that keep you from giving more? We are in a season of Lent
where many people choose to give something up for a period of
time. Is there something that you could eliminate from
your life in order to be a greater giver?
Prayer Time
Lord, continue to lead this Home Group to be a community of
cheerful givers. Guide us to use the resources that you have
blessed us with to bless our neighborhood, our church, and the
world. Amen.
Community Calendar
Join us Saturday, March 30, over at The Connection building for
our annual Easter Festival. This outreach event is from
10:00 am-2:00 pm and includes a kid-inspired celebration in The
Connection building, free lunch, a 40,000 egg hunt and
