Premier

FIVE of the pre-season favourites have already opened a gap at the top of the Ryman Premier, with Hampton leading the way after a 2-0 victory at Enfield Town which means they have yet to concede a goal in five games.

They have not found it easy to find the net themselves and it was 67 minutes before Jon-Jo Bates put them ahead, their sixth goal of the campaign. Charlie Moone made it safe with eight minutes left.

A point behind are Lowestoft, who wasted no time in taking control of their home game against Harrow. Greg

Crane and Dan Gleeson netted in the first 18 minutes, and Chris Henderson completed a 3-0 scoreline soon after the interval.

Margate are a point further back after matching Hampton with a 2-0 victory at Bognor and, they, too, had to wait

until the midpoint of the second half to break the deadlock. Tommy Murphy was the marksman, and Ryan Dolby added a late second.

Bury are level on points with the Kent club thanks to Allicion Blake’s 81st-minute goal at Hastings which was

enough to allow them to take all three points with them on the long trip back to Suffolk.

Kingstonian joined the leading group on Sunday, moving up to third place with a 3-1 home win over bottom Leiston. Aaron Goode opened the scoring on 14 minutes and Wade Small added another just after the half-hour.

Gareth Heath reduced the arrears three minutes after the break but Matt Pattison drilled home a free-kick five minutes later to restore the two-goal margin.

Leiston are one of four teams still seeking their first win. Two of them met at Carshalton and shared the points in a 1-1 draw. It was the fourth such result in five games for East Thurrock, who will feel they should have won it

after Sam Collins gave them the lead just before the hour. But they had Spencer Harrison sent off shortly afterwards and the Robins took advantage, equalising through Ola Sogbanmu with nine minutes left. The crowd was given as the highest in the Premier, 675, although that included many who were there for a pre-match event for children and did not stay for the game.

Concord, similarly, forfeited the lead after going down to ten men and had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Hendon, the

other side still without a victory. Jack Mazzone gave the home side a 15th

-minute lead which they held until 12 minutes after the interval, when James White levelled it. Tony Stokes put the Beachboys ahead ten minutes later but the dismissal of Danny Glozier was quickly followed by Greg Ngoyi’s 79

th-minute equaliser.

Thurrock, in 21st place, were unable to take advantage of a gift as they lost 2-1 at home to Wingate. Marc

Weatherstone’s early own goal was a handy boost for the hosts but they could not build on it. Leon Smith levelled it 11 minutes into the second half and Anderson Pinto netted the winner nine minutes later.

Josh Jones gave Whitehawk a flying start at Wealdstone with a third-minute strike but the Premier newcomers

were pegged back by Lee Chappell’s goal on the stroke of half-time and it finished 1-1, by which time Hawks were down to nine men after the late dismissal of Ryan James. Injuries had already left them one short.

There was another draw at Canvey, where Lewes were the visitors. This one was goalless, perhaps not

surprisingly. The islanders have scored only three goals and conceded just one in their five outings.

Met Police nicked their first win of the season thanks to a Jonty Smith double at Cray. The teenage debutant

netted after 20 and 55 minutes to set up a 2-1 victory, their clean sheet spoiled by Mark Willy in the 89th

minute.

North

IT MAY be early in the Ryman North season, but the clash between Sudbury and Grays on Saturday had the

look of a fixture that could be crucial in the promotion battle come April. If so, Sudbury have the edge after a 3-1 home victory.

Grays were rocked by a first-minute Ben Bowditch goal but they responded through Jack West in the 16th

minute and it stayed all square until Bowditch struck again in the 74

th minute. Dave Bryant made sure deep into added

time.

Waltham Abbey are the new leaders of the division after their 3-1 win at Soham, one of only two clubs in the

And the Abbotts did it despite having striker James Peagram in goal for the last 75 minutes after James Bransgrove suffered a head injury.

Ayrton Coley gave the visitors the lead just after the half-hour and, although Rob Mason equalised for Soham on the 45-minute mark, there was still time for Coley to strike again before the interval. The points were not safe until Loren Maxwell rounded things off in the last minute.

Tilbury moved into second place with a 2-1 derby success at Aveley. After a rapid early exchange of goals, with

-minute opener for the visitors being answered immediately by Shane Oakley, the in-form Danny Francis claimed the winner on the hour.

Maldon stay third after their 2-2 draw at Potters Bar, for whom James Gershfield maintained his record of

scoring in every game this season with his third double, taking his tally to eight in five games. He broke the deadlock in first-half injury time but the visitors levelled on the hour through James Robinson and went ahead with 15 minutes left with a Jamie Guy effort. There was no stopping Gershfield, however, and he squared it again two minutes later.

Overnight leaders Chatham slipped to fifth after going down 2-0 at home to Needham Market. Nathan Clarke

opened the scoring midway through the first half and Kieran Leabon added another ten minutes after the break.

Brentwood notched up their first win and inflicted a first defeat on Cheshunt, who went down 2-0 at the

Brentwood Centre. Neil Cousins, back at the club where he started his senior career (and for whom he once scored nine goals in the first two games of a season), put Blues ahead after 25 minutes and Sherwin Stanley made sure in the closing stages.

Waltham Forest also chalked up their first three-point haul, with a 21st-minute goal by Tom Vickers proving to be

all they needed to see off visiting neighbours Redbridge.

A single goal was enough for Harlow, too after Sam Deaney netted on the hour at Witham. The home side

should have drawn level, but James Pearman lifted a penalty high over the bar. The Hawks have now won both their away games while losing all three, including an FA Cup match, on home territory.

Ware collected their first point in a 1-1 home draw with Ilford. They must have hoped for better when Tony Martin

gave them a fourth-minute lead, but they could not add to it and Sam Adejokun replied in the 72nd

minute.

Thamesmead drew 2-2 at Heybridge but were furious to be denied a penalty in the closing stages, with their

protests leading to a red card for James Donovan after the final whistle. Ben Newson gave Swifts a tenth-minute lead which vanished before half-time as Rob Carter and Lea Dawson turned it round with two goals in three minutes. Michael Cheek levelled matters after 63 minutes.

South

RYMAN South leaders Crawley Down could hardly have come closer to making it four wins out of four at Walton Casuals on Saturday. Tom Graves gave them a third-minute lead and that looked enough, especially when

Graves popped up with a goalline clearance at the other end, until Elton Gjoni’s last-minute equaliser earned Casuals their first point.

The Anvils stay on top, for Folkestone forfeited their 100 per cent record at almost the same moment as Matt Crabb netted a 90

th-minute penalty to give visiting Eastbourne Town a 2-2 draw. Stuart King netted an early

opener for the hosts and, after Sonny Cobbs equalised shortly before the interval, it was King again who restored the advantage in the 68

th minute.

Dulwich are one point behind after a comfortable 3-0 home w in over Worthing. Kevin James set them on their

way after after 19 minutes and struck again on 73 minutes. Frankie Sawyer wrapped it up with a late penalty.

Walton & Hersham trail Dulwich only on goal difference after powering to a 4-1 win at Faversham, making it

nine goals in their two away games. Dave Lawrence did much of the damage, scoring after 34 and 67 minutes. Harold Odametey and Martin Grant doubled the total in the last ten minutes, leaving the hosts the slender consolation of a goal by Luke Harvey in added time.

Whitstable are still seeking their first point despite taking an eighth-minute lead through Stuart Vahid at Merstham. Roscoe Dsane ruined their hopes with a 15

th-minute equaliser and what proved to be the winner in

the 27th

minute.

Two relegated clubs clashed at Horsham and the hosts ran out 3-1 winners over Tooting. Gary Charman’s 27th-

minute opener for the Hornets was quickly cancelled out by Kieran Kenlock. Ryan Marriott put Horsham ahead again, this time to stay, just before half-time and Billy Medlock added another 20 minutes into the second period. Tony Nwachukwu could have made it four, but missed a late penalty.

Paul Booth’s double gave Maidstone a 2-0 win over Corinthian-Casuals in front of a crowd of 1,276 at the

Gallagher Stadium. He scored early in each half, the second of them a penalty.

Three Bridges maintained their handy start to Ryman League life, coming from behind to beat Hythe 2-1 at the

Jubilee Field. Taser Hassan put the Kent visitors ahead in the 16th

minute, momenst after Joel O’Hara had hit a post at the other end, and they stayed in front until the 67

th minute, when Tim Rivers squared it from the spot.

O’Hara completed the turnaround nine minutes later.

The other newcomers, Herne Bay, had Rhys Lawson sent off early in the second half and were held to a goalless home draw by Sittingbourne, and it was the same score, or rather lack of one, at Burgess Hill where Ramsgate were the visitors.

There was one goal at Leatherhead and it went to visitors Chipstead, for whom Michael Heverin netted in the

minute to end the home side’s 100 per cent record.

Level Playing Field (LPF) was established in 1998 as The National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS). In March 2011 NADS changed its trading name to Level Playing Field as they felt this name better embraces the social model of disability and their works and projects. They are the only national registered charity for England and Wales representing disabled fans of all sports together with their personal assistant’s and advocates. LPF engages with stakeholders from across football and other sports and is proud to have a wide membership that demonstrates this critical collaboration.

Become a member:

Level Playing Field’s membership continues to grow and each year new members join up. They are always looking for new members as well, membership extends to individuals, disabled supporter associations and clubs alike. If you have not joined them in the past but would like to support what they do and join them, they would be delighted to hear from you. LPF represents disabled sports fans and works with partners to improve sports stadia, venues and events.

Membership fees:

The Membership Fees for the 2012 - 2013 Season have remained the same as the previous two years and are:

Full Disabled Supporter Associations (DSA) - £25 Full Individual Members - £5 Affiliate Members - £25 minimum donation Associate DSA's or Individuals – Free Club and Venue membership from £25 to £250
