Our story this week is a Nursery favourite! ‘Shark in the Park’ (On YouTube) written by Nick Sharratt. Can you join in with the story like we do in Nursery? Retell the story to your family. What did you see in the park? What is your favourite thing to do in the park? The park can be explored in all kinds of weather. Lots of birds live in parks. Have you ever seen a Blackbird? Can you find some snails in the garden? Snails like to come out at night. Where could they be hiding in the day? Design a snail... Look at the pattern on a snail’s shell. Can you make a snail? How fast can you move? Create an obstacle course in your garden and see how quickly you can get around it. Ask an adult to time you to see how quickly you move. Challenge someone else in your family to complete the obstacle course. Were you slower or faster than them? ‘ai’ words ‘Snail brings the mail’ has lots of ‘ai’ sounds... listen carefully to the story on YouTube. Can you make a list of ‘ai’ words? NURSERY (Can we explore it?) The Park!

Our story this week is a Nursery favourite! ‘Shark in the Park’ (On YouTube) written by Nick Sharratt.

Make a fact list about Snails... Where do they live? What do they look like? What do they like to eat? Who likes to eat snails? What can you do that a snail can’t?

Have another go and see if you can improve your time. How fast does a snail move? If you’ve been lucky enough to find one, see how quickly it moves from one place to the next? How long did it take them? Remember to be careful with the snails and take care not to hurt them! Snail races are fun, but just make sure they don’t get harmed!

Can you read The Whales’ Song by Dylan Sheldon. This is one of my favourite books Year 2. I hope you like it too!!

Can you find out all about the different types of whales there are? Use the internet or fact books to help you. Remember to always be safe online and ask an adult to help. Maybe do a short fact file on each type. Use the supporting documents to create a fact file.

Can you create a whale from card and decorate it using blow painting skills? Here is an example...

Remember do this with an adult. Mix blue paint with some water and add drops to your whale and blow using a straw. Do NOT suck!!
