Chet’s Chat
Dr. Chet Andrews Senior Pastor
• March is a favorite month in our family. In our family of
6, we have three birthdays in one week between the 4th
and 11th of March. However, there is another reason
March is significant in my life. March 1, 2017 will be my
one year anniversary as the Lead Pastor of State Street
Baptist Church. I can’t tell you how blessed my family
and I are to be united with this amazing group of
believers. The kindness, patience, and love you have
displayed in my first year as your pastor has been
amazing. As I reflect on this first year I am reminded of
Paul’s words as he was reflecting on the Church of
Philippi. Paul said, “In all my prayers for all of you, I
always pray with joy because of your partnership in the
gospel from the first day until now … I have you in my
heart … I long for all of you with the affection of Christ
Jesus” (Philippians 1:4-8). I can relate to Paul as I think
and pray for my church family here at State Street.
Thank you so much for making our first year here so
memorable and for loving me and my family so
extravagantly!
Upcoming opportunities to invest in the Kingdom and
invite others to “Taste and see that the LORD is
good” (Psalm 34:8).

HEALTH KIT MINISTRY
Church members are asked to provide 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth (colors are preferred) per ministry kit. We hope to receive enough to prepare at least 25 kits.
These are used for Seafarers, Homeless, Migrants, Fair Workers, and others.
WMU members will add the other items (soap, comb, toothbrush, and toothpaste).
Due date is April 17, 2017. Towels and washcloths may be placed in baskets near the Welcome Center.
SHOE MNISTRY UPDATE
Two and one-half years ago, State Street embarked
on an endeavor of collecting shoes for people in Haiti
and other third world countries that have no shoes to
wear. This mission has provided over 14,000 pairs of
shoes for these people. We work through a company
called Funds2Orgs.com in Orlando, Florida. They pro-
vide us with bags to put the shoes in and pick them
up directly from the Church periodically. The compa-
ny pays State Street 40 cents per pound for all shoes
we collect. (They must be in pairs; single shoes cannot
be used. This includes all kinds of shoes.) In just two
and one-half years we have received $5,110 for the
shoes we have collected. This money is used to assist
in various mission projects at the Church. Recently
$803 of this money went toward defraying the cost of
the youth mission trip planned in July. Funds from
shoes collected over the next two months will also go
to the youth mission trip.
Let me challenge each family to commit to collecting
25 pairs of shoes over the next two months. It is so
easy; just ask your neighbors, co-workers, family
members, and others you come in contact with. I have
business cards made up for myself and was recently in
a place of business. As I was leaving, I gave one of my
cards to the person I was talking with and shared the
shoe ministry program with him. A few days later he
called to tell me he had bagged 10 pairs of shoes for
me and left them on his front porch for me to pick up
the next day on my way to church.
If you are willing to commit to taking the challenge of
collecting a minimum of 25 pairs of shoes by April 15,
please email me and let’s see how many commit-
ments we can secure.
Please contact me with any suggestions you may have
on how we may promote this ministry and provide
shoes to so many people that have no shoes to wear.
You may reach me by email at [email protected]
or by phone at (803) 794-8550 or (803) 413-7233.
God bless
Margaret Hutson
