Week 26 (19th Jun to 26th Jun 2020)
Bulkers
Alpha Bulkers have sold the Capesize “Alpha Era” 170/2000 Sasebo, Japan (SS/DD 06/2020) to Chinese buyers Fujian Ocean for a price of USD 7,8 mill. For reference, M/V “Aquaglory” 171/2003 Sasebo, Japan (SS 07/2023, DD 07/2021) was sold last week at levels USD 9,7 mill.
Union Carriers’ BWTS fitted Panamax “Harrow” 77/2005 Sasebo, Japan (SS/DD passed) was committed to Greek buyers for USD mid 8 mill, while “Navios Northern Star” 75/2005 Universal, Japan (SS/DD 07/2020) of Navios Maritime Holdings was sold to Chinese buyers at region USD 7 mill. Latest similar sale was concluded earlier this month, the three-years-older “Lucky Star” 77/2002 Imabari, Japan (SS/DD 02/2022) at USD 6,45 mill basis DD passed.
French owners CNN have sold their Supramax “Suprastar” 57/2011 Qingshan, China (SS/DD 01/2021) to Greek buyers at USD low 7 mill. For comparison, the one-year-younger “Aragonit” 57/2012 Jiangsu Hantong, China (SS/DD 05/2022) was sold a couple of weeks ago for USD 8,2 mill.
Nisshin Shipping have committed their two BWTS fitted Handysize vessels “NY Trader I” 38/2014 Imabari, Japan (SS 05/2024, DD 03/2022) & “NY Trader II” 37/2014 Onomichi, Japan (SS 09/2024, DD 08/2022) to Greek buyers for USD 25 mill enbloc. Remind you that last month, the one-year-younger Tsuneishi Cebu built sister vessels “Sharpnes” & “Swiftnes” 36/2015 Tsuneishi Cebu, Philippines were sold for USD 26 million enbloc basis SS/DD passed & BWTS fitted.
Moreover, the smaller Handysise “Global Trinity” 28/2011 Imabari, Japan (SS/DD 05/2021) of Santoku Senpaku was committed to Greek buyers at levels USD 6,6 mill whilst her one-year-older sister vessel “Wave Friend” 28/2010 Imabari, Japan (SS 01/2025, DD 06/2022) was sold three weeks ago at USD 6,4 mill.
Tankers
Two Aframax sales have emerged this week which apparently were sold privately in early June. Minerva Marine sold the “Minerva Zenia” 106/2002 Daewoo, Korea (SS 04/2022, DD 08/2020) & “Minerva Alexandra” 105/2000 Samsung, Korea (SS/DD passed) to UAE buyers at region USD 24 mill enbloc (region USD 13 mill & region USD 11 mill respectively). Note that, at that time, M/T “Torm Kristina” 105/1999 Halla, Korea was sold at USD 10 mill.

Capesize
Iron ore rates on the West Australia / China route continued throughout
Week 26 at the level of high usd 8,00’s fio. A number of round trips on the
same route were reported around usd 28,000 pd levels. Usd 17,900 pd on a
Capesize for 5/7 months employment basis delivery in the Pacific.
Kamsarmax / Panamax
A number of Indonesian and Australian trips into China were reported at
around usd 10,000/11,000 pd levels. A number of Indonesian and Australian
trips into India were fixed at the level of usd 9,000/10,000 pd. South East
Asian trips into India via South Africa were reported at the level of usd
14,000 pd. West African trips into Continent with bauxite were reported at
around usd 8,000 pd levels. Inter-Continental trips via Baltic with coal were
fixed around usd 12,000/13,000 pd. Continental trips into China via US Gulf
and Suez with grains were reported at the level of usd 16,500 pd. US Gulf
trips into Continent were fixed around usd 17,000 pd. South American trips
into Continent were reported at the level of usd 13,000/14,000 pd. South
American trips into China were fixed around usd 12,000/13,000 pd basis
delivery in the Pacific. Usd 13,850 pd on a Kamsarmax for 6/9 months
employment basis delivery in the Pacific.
Ultramax / Supramax
A number of Indonesian trips into China were reported at the level of usd
10,000 pd. South East Asian trips into China via India were reported around
usd 10,000/11,000 pd. A number of Indian trips into China were fixed around
usd 15,000/16,000 pd. Usd 8,500 pd on a Supramax for 2/3 laden legs basis
delivery in the Pacific. Continental trips into West Africa via Baltic were
reported at the level of usd 11,250 pd. US Gulf trips into Japan with grains
were fixed around usd 17,000 pd without any ballast bonus. Usd 12,000 pd
on an Ultramax for 3/5 months employment basis delivery in the Atlantic.
Usd 13,000 pd on a Supramax for 4/6 months employment basis delivery in
the Pacific.
Handymax / Handysize
A Lange Handysize was reported on a South America into Black Sea at the
usd 9,500 pd. Usd 8,000 pd basis delivery West Coast South America for a
Handysize into US West Coast with salt. No period activity to report here.
