Week 32 (2nd Aug to 9th Aug 2019)
Bulkers
Thomas Schulte Reederei have sold two Kamsarmax sister vessels, “Diana Schulte” & “Dora Schulte” 80/2010 New Century China (SS/DD 09/2020 & 10/2020 respectively) to Chinese buyers for USD 23 mill enbloc. Moving on the Supramax sector, M/V “Merit Trader” 58/2014 Shin Kurushima Onishi, Japan (SS/DD 10/2019, BWTS fitted) was sold at a price of USD 19 mill while the two-years-older “Hinode Maru” 59/2012 Kawasaki, Japan was sold last week for USD 16,2 mill. Moreover, M/V “Aquakula” 55/2007 Oshima, Japan (DD 02/2020) was committed to Indonesian buyers Djakarta Lloyd at a price of USD 12,1 mill (2 months subs) and NYK Line’s M/V “Marie Grace” 53/2008 Iwagi, Japan (SS/DD 10/2021) was committed at a price of USD 10,5 mill. Finally, Hisamoto Kisen have sold their Handysize “Atlantic Grace” 34/2010 Shin Kochi, Japan (DD 06/2020) for a price of USD 9,5 mill whilst the one-year-older and a little smaller M/V “Ikan Jerung” 32/2009 Saiki, Japan was sold a couple of weeks ago for USD 9 mill.
Tankers
Three VLCC built in Daewoo were reported sold this week, with Euronav’s “V. K. Eddie” 305/2005 Daewoo, Korea (SS/DD 05/2020) being sold to Japanese Modec at USD 38 mill in order to convert her into FPSO. The other two are Navios’ “Nave Electron” 305/2002 Daewoo, Korea (DD 01/2020) at USD 27 mill and NGM’s “Victory I” 299/2001 Daewoo, Korea (DD 10/2020) to Royal Express at USD 26 mill.
A vintage Aframax sale, M/T “Eagle Sibu” 105/1999 Samsung, Korea (SS/DD 08/2019) was committed to undisclosed buyers for USD low 7 mill, whereas the Japanese built M/T “Olympia I” 107/1999 Koyo Mihara, Japan was sold last month at USD 7,9 mill with SS/DD promptly after the sale also (07/2019).

Capesize
Iron ore rates on the West Australia / China route continued throughout Week
32 at the level of low usd 9,00’s fio. A number of round trips on the same route
were reported around usd 24,000 pd levels. Inter-Continental trips via NCSA
were fixed at the level of usd 29,000 pd. No period activity to report here.
Kamsarmax / Panamax
North Pacific rounds ranged at the usd 13,000/14,000 pd. A number of
Indonesian trips into China were reported around usd 12,000/13,000 pd levels.
A number of Indonesian and Australian trips into India were reported at the
levels of usd 11,000/12,000 pd. Persian Gulf trips via Black Sea were fixed around
usd 13,000 pd. Continental trips into Mediterranean via Murmansk were
reported at the level of usd 19,000 pd. South American trips into Continent were
fixed at the level of usd 22,000 pd without any ballast bonus. South American
trips into China were reported at the levels of usd 16,000 pd plus ballast bonus
at the usd 600K. Usd 13,250 pd on a Kamsarmax for 4/6 months employment
basis delivery in the Pacific.
Ultramax / Supramax
Indonesian trips into China at the level of usd 8,000/9,000 pd and Indonesian
trips into India at around usd 10,000 pd. South African trips into China were
reported at the level of usd 14,000 pd plus ballast bonus at the usd 400K.
Mediterranean trips into China via Black Sea were fixed around usd 21,750 pd.
US Gulf trips into Continent with petcoke were reported at the level of usd
18,000 pd. Petcoke from US Gulf into India were fixed around usd 20,500 pd plus
ballast bonus at the usd 260K. South American trips into India were fixed at the
level of usd 15,250 pd plus ballast bonus at the usd 525K and into China at the
level of usd 16,250 pd plus ballast bonus at the usd 625K. No period activity to
report here.
Handymax / Handysize
A generally quiet week for this segment. Indonesian trips into China at the level
of usd 8,500 pd. Chinese steels into Persian Gulf were fixed around usd 7,250
pd. South American trips into West Africa with steels were reported at the level
of usd 18,750 pd. South American coastal trip at the level of usd 14,000 pd. No
period activity to report here.
