Bibli cal generosity isn t about giving the mini- mum. Its about surrendering it all to an all -powerful, all - loving God. And to a God who GAVE everything in His Son Jesus Christ. Randy Alcorn said it best: Giving arms Christs lordship. It dethrones ME and exalts HIM.  I used to write checks to my church that looked like this $112.14. To the penny. Nothing more. Noth ing less. Theres my 10% God. Hopefull y that s cover the upkeep in Heaven unl my next paycheck. Now bless ME.  W hy I  Quit Tithing and W hy Y ou Should T oo by Larry Poole I didnt get it. God didnt need my money. He want- ed proof that He was rst in my life. He wanted me to trust Him completely. He wanted to grow my faith. And yes, He wanted to bless my nances tremendously. But only if I trusted Him completely.  As I began to mature in my spiritual walk, it all started to make sense. EVERYTHING belongs to God. The more I trust Him with my nances, the more He can use me to reveal His glory. The more I get to be a conduit for His miracles. The more my faith gets to be tested and grown.  And thats why I quit thing.  Dont hear me wrong. I sll give the rst 10% of my income to God through my local church. I think 10% is a great starng point. But I ve started asking a dierent queson. A queson that s radically changing my life. Its no longer, How much should I give? Instead, Ive start- ed asking, How much should I KEEP? And Im no dierent from you. Im an average guy. Im not a millionaire. I m not expecng a windfall of cash from a rich relave any me in the future. I just recognize that my God is sucient to meet and EXCEED all my needs. I believe God when He says, Test me in this, and see if I will not throw open the oodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it(Malachi 3.10). Is it possible that youre liming God with your giv- ing? Maybe youre obedient with the rst 10%, but com- pletely unwilling when the Holy Spirit prompts you fur- ther. Perhaps God is calling you to do more nancially than youve ever done before.  Instead of being comfortable, maybe it s me for you to give in a way thats going to require faith AGAIN. It probably wont be easy. But it will be worth it. God doesnt just want your rst 10%. He wants your whole heart.  Honor the Lo rd with your wealth and with the best part of everything  you produc e. Then He will fill your barns with grain and your vats will overflow with good wine.  Proverbs 3.9-10
