LAIPLA invites you to our kick-off monthly dinner meeting for a special presentation by Hal Wegner,
Foley & Lardner LLP, on the America Invents Act. This event is free for law students.
The program will discuss major near-term changes that every practitioner must understand, and how
to integrate the changes into the corporate patent manager’s agenda, including:
(1) Impact of the tough and prompt Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) administrative
revocation proceeding applicable retroactively to all granted patents without regard to when
they were filed:
- Which competitors’ patents are open to attack?
- Which of my own patents must be "bulletproofed"?
- What must be done to prepare before the door opens to filing on Sept. 16, 2012?
- What expert discovery is allowed under the new "inter partes review"?
(2) Nuances of the massive changes in prior art regime under the new law,
including measures to avoid prior art by operating under the Section (n)(3)(1)
transition date.
