College Annual Day dated 20 Feb 2016

EXCERPTS First of all I welcome on behalf of SSPM 's College of Food

Technology , Dhule , to the first ever annual event of the college since

its inception two years back .

We named it ' AMRITWEL - 2016' .

This is our second academic year. We have five departments

namely :

1) Food Science & Technology 2) Food Engineering ,

3) Food Chemistry& Nutrition ,

4) Food & Industrial Microbiology

5) Food trade business management .

We are living in a global world , where international

standards are required to be followed for import & exports. Food

laws are very stringent.

Because of this & increase in population there is huge

demand of food technologists in general and to develop, produce,

process & package varieties of food products which meet requisite

quality tests as per International food norms for global requirement

in particular .

People are also now more health & hygiene conscious. Fast

food are largely consumed . Hence more and more food technologist

& experts are required .

Ours is a developing country.

Amongst developing country we presently processing less than 5 %

of our produce as compared to Brazil where more than 50% is pro -

cessed , hence one can see a large scope in this field.

In fruits & vegetable we almost top in the worldwide production but

more than one third is wasted which is if properly handled & pro-

cessed can be beneficial for domestic & international requirement.

Similarly we have largest number of milch ( milk) cattle but still are

not processing milk enough to meet our requirement.

SSPMs College of Food Technology has advantage to be in the

industrial area of Dhule City which is a Municipal Corporation .

Hence Students here can have quick approach to industry for their

practical experience besides our laboratories.

We have talented & experienced staff having obtained

specialization in Food technology from various esteemed

universities.

The results of students during last two years are satisfactory

which will be improved further during the coming years .

Our students have participated in inter college sports of the

university.

I assure from the management & the staff that we shall try

our level best to produce the best of the Food Technologists from our

college in near future.
