Surviving theHoliday SeasonBy Brian Rosso, R.D.

During the holiday season, theaverage person experiences

increased stress & gains about5 lbs. This weight gain & stress can

be minimized by following thesuggestions listed below.

Exercise on a regular basis. Peoplewho schedule time to exercise are

more successful at keeping theextra pounds off & feel better

overall.Avoid overeating your holiday

favorites! Eat a healthy meal beforegoing to a party. Drink plenty of

water, decaffeinated tea ordecaffeinated coffee. Not only will

the liquids hydrate you, but they willalso fill your stomach & decreaseyour chances of overeating. Enjoyyour favorite holiday foods, but eatthem off a small plate. This limitsthe amount of food you will eat &helps keep the extra pounds off.

Keep your stress to a minimum overthe holidays. Get plenty of sleep, atleast eight hours a night. Socialize

with family & friends. Eatwell-balanced meals. Do not forgetbreakfast—it is the most important

meal of the day.Happy Holidays!

Winter Workouts Can KeepYou Cozy

Chilly winter days provide a goodexcuse to stay wrapped up under a

blanket. But that’s even more reasonto get moving and exercise. Even 20min. of working out can warm you up

& keep you warm well after thesession is over.
