A home away from home, somewhere special, a place to kick off your shoes, unwind and head on down to the waterhole to relax with a drink in hand.

One of the original farmhouses in the area the Bush House has grown into a home in the bush – an informal lodge that wants guests to feel part of the family.

Dinners in the Boma under black, inky skies with the stars for lights are truly special. Scrumptious meals and delicious South African wines are all part of being at home, where you lose track of time and the loudest noise is the crickets.

Underground Hide at The Bush HouseAn exciting addition to our offering is an underground hide that borders on the very edge of our most active waterhole. A water point is located close to the front opening and elephants regularly drink from this point or walk right past the front of The Hide. The roof which is just above ground level is reinforced and can carry the weight of any elephant that might wander across the top.

The Hide is accessed from a path within the Lodge gar-den, or from the swimming pool, so guests can safely move along the walkway and into the tunnel without be-ing seen by the animals and in complete safety.

The front of The Hide has an expanded metal grid which is completely open and out of sight but can be quickly dropped if anyone is feeling nervous.

The pathways, tunnel and hide are all lit at night so are available for use by guests 24 hours a day. Those guests with walkers and in wheel-chairs can also use The Hide as the walkway has ramps that ensure ease of access.

Viewing of all the visiting animals and birds close up is truly spectacular and offers a whole new dimension in game viewing.

Our garden is filled with colourful trees and creepers. The rolling green grass is the perfect vantage point to watch the birds, see what is coming to the waterhole or relax in the shade with a book.

We welcome children at the lodge and on game drives at the discretion of our guide. We take the children for their own special games drive if they are too young to accompany adults.
