Assistant Principal, RMSI am beginning my 25th year working at RMS! I will administer grade 8, ELL and Title I this year!

My background is in K-8 Elementary Education and K-12 Special Education.

I was a teacher in New York before moving here in 1994, when I became the special educator for House 3 in our then Junior High School.

After working as the Special Education Director at RMS for several years, I have spent the past 13 years as one of our assistant principals.

I am an adjunct at UNH’s School of Education teaching preservice teachers. I love teaching!

I am currently finishing my CAGS in Educational Leadership at SNHU. I love learning!

MANY years in education (but I’m still young at heart)!

● Taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade, fifth grade, sixth grade and special education● Taught in RI, CA and NH● I was persuaded to “try” middle school in 1997 and never really left

○ Taught for 9 years in middle school.○ Administrator for a middle/high alternative school for five years.○ Principal of a middle school for the last seven years

Grading and Reporting at Rundlett Middle School

Teachers will make grading and reporting decisions related to Formatives and Summatives in order to determine the academic achievement grade for competencies within an academic discipline. Both Formatives and Summatives are reported in PowerTeacher Gradebook. They are scored on a 1-4 scale.

● Formatives inform teacher, student and parent on progress towards mastery of grade level competencies and standards.

● Summatives measure a student’s mastery of learning at a given point in an instructional unit. ● Report card grades reflect student achievement on Summatives.

Parents and students can access PowerTeacher Gradebook through our district website www.sau8.org

Formative Assessments

Formative assessments help teachers, students and parents know what the student knows and needs more instruction on prior to a summative. Here are some examples of formative assessments:

● Exit Tickets● Do Now’s/Bellwork● Daily Cumulative Reviews (DCRs)● Classwork● Homework that is used in class for instructional purposes● Quizzes used for instructional purposes● Component parts of a long-term projects/assignments

Summative Assessments

Summative assessments provide evidence that summarizes students’ achievement and certify students’ competence on learning targets, as well as provide the basis for grading and reporting to parents/guardians. Examples include:

● Major Exams and Compositions● Class Quizzes as an assessment of learning● Reports or Projects● Performance Tasks and Assessments● Oral Presentations● Mid-Module and End of Module Assessments● Laboratory Projects and Reports● Portfolios and Exhibits of Students’ work

Rundlett Middle School Advisory...Why?

The RMS Advisory supports students’ social-emotional and academic potential.

Through Advisory, students gain skills, develop a sense of community, and build character.

Advisory fosters positive relationships within the RMS community

Advisory supports well-being, improves self-confidence, increases self-awareness, enhances one’s physical and emotional wellness, and being an active member of the school and wider community.

What will Advisory look like at RMS this year?

● Every Friday morning from 8:35-9:00 AM● 25 minute class● All students in our school community will have Advisory at

the same time each week.● Discussion and activity based ● Lessons and activities target social-emotional learning and

student Habits of Mind.● Using Overcoming Obstacles curriculum.

RMS Blue Duke PRIDE Rubric

● Students will receive a PRIDE score along with the academic achievement grade on their report cards for each term.

● The PRIDE score will report students’ social competence and “habits of mind” related to Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline and Empathy.

● This score is derived from weekly student self-assessment and teacher assessment of each element in the Blue Duke PRIDE Rubric.

● Student work habits, participation, conduct, and engagement are reflected in our PRIDE Rubric.

Big Ideas of our Master Schedule

● All students are organized into clusters at each grade level for core subjects.● All grade levels have Intervention/Enrichment (I/E) blocks to support student

learning and needs.● Four core class periods in grade 6 and 7 for ELA, Math, Science and Social

Studies.● Five core class periods for grade 8 for ELA, Math , Science, Social Studies, and

World Language/Study/ELL/Title I/Resource Room.● Grade 6 and 7 will have two lunch periods to offer smaller lunch settings.● All students have two Exploratory periods each day for Art, PE, Tech. Ed., Health.
