Welcome

Responsive Call to Worship Let us gather to worship in the presence of our God, as is we were standing upon God’s holy hill. Let us gather to worship as children of God, as if we were standing in the waters of grace. Let us gather to worship God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for God is here among us in this place of grace.

Declaration of Celebration Clerk, Mitzie McGavic

*Hymn: For All the Saints #529

CALL TO Confession Ron Overcash

PRAYER OF CONFESSION: You have told us, O Lord, who may abide in your presence and dwell upon your holy hill. Yet we confess that we have not always walked blamelessly, but often stumble on the path of faith. We have not always done what is right and we have not always spoken the truth from our hearts, for the truth often makes us nervous. Have mercy upon us, Merciful God. Convict us by your wisdom, cleanse us by your grace, challenge us by your presence, and by your forgiveness, free us to try again. For we ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: Friends, hear and believe the good news of the gospel, In Jesus Christ we are forgiven, thanks be to God.

Amazing Grace Steve Hancock, Baritone Virginia Harmony Children’s Message Dr. Will Browne

First Reading: I Corinthians 1:1-9 Pastor Alan Adams Second Reading: Revelation 21:1-7 Ron Overcash

Anthem: The Church’s One Foundation Samuel Wesley arr. Janet Valey Handbell Choir Susan Berry

Prayer for Illumination Sermon: A Space of Gifted Grace Dr. Will Browne

Anthem: There’s a Spirit of Lord in this Place” Words and Music Mark Miller

Morning Prayer & Lord’s Prayer …who taught us to pray together . . Dr. Will Browne Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

Lamb of God Ellie Sutphin, flute Maurice Whitney, arr. Joel Raney

*APOSTLES’ CREED Ron Overcash I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
