All questions about your child’s math grade need to go to their math teacher

Please help your child memorize their multiplication, addition,and subtraction facts.

Sunshine State books are highly encouraged!

We have the same basic routine each week with a new story, grammar, and spelling words.

5 new AR points must be earned each month 5 points = 100% Scores must be 80% 4.0-4.9 = 80% or higher to count 3.0-3.9 = 60% and tests MAY NOT 2.0-2.9 = 40% be retaken. 1.9-1.0 = 20%

Media Center time is given when possible.

A Computer schedule is currently being worked on by administration.

Energy, Solar System, Astronomy

Students will rotate as a class to a new teacher every 7 weeks. They will learn something new from each of them.

Science is part of the 5th grade FCAT

Homework is given when necessary

With each chapter we will usually have an in class project.◦ The first one we did was an artifact about themselves◦ Today we started a “Shaman’s Mask”

Reading FCAT through Social Studies is a homework assignment given on Wednesday’s. ◦ These are difficult and students will probably need help,

please look over it with them.

Chapter tests are multiple choice and open book

Stickers are awarded when students do not break a rule that day

A letter is written on the chart indicating when and which rule was broken

Break 3 rules = Sit out at recess Break 6 rules = Sit out at recess and parent

Symphony – October 15th Leu Gardens – November 14th Science Center – ??? Digital Planet – March (here at school) Juvenile Justice Center – May 19th

We are expecting the total cost to be under $20 for all field trips

A permission slip packet should be sent home by the end of the month.

Tentative Field TripsThe 5th Grade T-Shirt should be worn on these trips

Weekly progress report goes home on Monday with graded papers.

Failing papers with a grade of less than 60% should be signed and corrected.

All late papers receive a 5 point deduction.

When absent, a yellow folder on their desk will contain all make-up work.
