- Starting on “day one” each day
- Fallow and feast periods during the year
- Unpredictability of work patterns
- Learning local GP’s “style” of hand writing.
- Large amount of traveling
Bookings
Saturday’s always in highest demand Rates in Dublin vary between €22-27eph Mon -
Sat Go as high as €30eph outside of Dublin Sunday Rate €25-40 January and February are quietest months of year July and August busiest Driving license is an advantage
Preparation
Ring pharmacy in the afternoon prior to booking. Transport Weather forecast Lunch BNF and BNF for children Double alarm in the morning Charged phone
During the day
Sign duty register / fridge temperature log Start up computer ASAP – make note of order cut
off Any notes in diary / on bench Quickly get basic lay-out CD key location / methadone Rx’s SOP’s Staff – names Customers
Finishing the day
Leave time to double check order Sign and print the daily audit Concise and clearly written notes on Rx’s Any unfinished Rx’s should be neatly arranged in
bags / baskets on bench Phone number left in case of urgent queries
Do’s and Don’ts Ok to bring biscuits and cake for staff, especially
if first time in a pharmacy Dress professionally Chat with staff Do not complain about pharmacy Do not get involved with staff disputes Do not put staff under pressure to leave early to
catch bus etc.
