Nuts and Bolts• Children CANNOT bring toys to school. Please refrain from allowing children to

come to school with distracting accessories, (bracelets, headbands, sun glasses, etc.)

• Students may keep a water bottle in the classroom, but it must contain WATER and have a cap.

• Please do not send your child in tennis shoes with ties if they cannot tie them. Students are more than welcome to wear lace up shoes, IF they can tie them themselves. This is a great activity to work on at home!

• Please do not peek in the windows while we are still in the classroom.

• When possible, please leave before the warning bell in the morning. This will allow for a smooth transition into the classroom.

• Please label lunch boxes, sweaters/sweatshirts and backpacks.

Nuts and Bolts cont…• Attendance is VERY important!

– Absenteeism and its ill effects start early. One in 10 first grade students are chronically absent. Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade or be held back. (Attendanceworks.org)

– Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.

• However… if your child is sick, they cannot attend school. Students must stay home for 24 hours after vomiting or fever.

• Call office and let them know if your child will be absent. • If your child is late, they must stop in the office and get a tardy slip.• Parents on campus need a visitors badge.• Parent Volunteers need a TB test to help in classroom and go on field trips.• Drop off time is AFTER 7:35am.• Access to playgrounds after school: M-TH 2:15-2:30• Tuesdays for TLD 12:30-12:45• Parent waiting area: snack area
