Sixth Grade Science investigates physics, chemistry, electricity, and matter.

We will do MANY, MANY Experiments!

(if cooperative!)

What will we learn in 6th grade?

Come to class on time and prepared with necessary materials.

Do not interrupt teaching, learning, or working with outbursts or noises.

Raise you hand to speak.Be courteous and respectful at

all times.Work to the best of your ability.Have fun!

Classroom Rules

1st Offense: Verbal Warning- 2nd Offense check mark 3rd Offense 2nd check mark-parent contact 4th Offense 3rd check mark-detention

This will start over during the same 9 weeks.

*** Some severe discipline issues will result in an immediate Office Referral and Call Home.

Discipline Procedures:

Bring Agenda to class every day! You will write your passwords in here! You will write any homework that’s assigned

in here! Keep the agenda in your book bag!

Agenda

The classroom Bill of Rights is simple. “The teacher has the right to teach and students

have the right to learn. Everyone will respect these rights.”

Simply put, any actions that interfere with teaching and learning are unacceptable.

Students are expected to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct as well as these classroom expectations:

Classroom Expectations (simply the Bill of Rights).

Have materials out, have pencils sharpened, and be seated before the tardy bell rings.

If there is an assignment on the board or overhead, begin before being told to do so.

We will do bellwork each day. Be ready immediately at the bell.

BE PUNCTUAL.

Bring all materials to class for each day. If you need to borrow a pen or paper, do so before class begins.

BE PREPARED

The “Golden Rule is my motto: do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

Follow all class and school rules. Do not talk while I am teaching or giving

instructions. If you have something to share, wait until you are acknowledged and then share.

When doing class work, work quietly and mindful of others.

Take care of classroom materials.

BE RESPECTFUL

Do all your class work and turn it in on time. If you are absent, be sure to check the while

you were absent file, learn what you missed, and complete any assignments by the timeline given. (This includes updating your Interactive Science Notebook!) Ask a neighbor!

BE RESPONSIBLE

Know where your materials are. Know what you need to do. Present your work legible and neatly.

BE ORGANIZED.

1. Do your best in everything. 2. Try your hardest. 3. Aim for success. 4. Get involved and ask questions

BE AN ACHIEVER

Homework is not assigned on a daily basis. A lot of times you will just have to review or study notes.

You will be given a username and password to log onto our Science curriculum online. I strongly encourage this type of review regularly if we are using the book.

Assignments will be in your “To do” list after you log in.

You will earn extra credit by logging and completing activities.

Homework

1. Come in quietly.2. Sit down.3. Take out any materials you need for

class.4. Open agenda, write the daily objective

and homework for the day.5. Begin bell work on designated notebook

page immediately.6. During the beginning of class there is no

talking.

How to come into class…

Turn your paper in on top of the cubby in the correct box for your class.

Use a highlighter by the box to highlight your name.

Most papers will be glued into your science Notebook onto a certain page once I return them to you.

We will go over Notebook procedures in another PowerPoint.

How to pass in papers…

If you need to sharpen your pencil, hold up your pencil.

If I nod or say yes, go to the sharpener. At the sharpener, even though it is

tempting, do not talk. Quickly & quietly go back to your seat. It is

not a social tour.

Sharpening Pencils

Try to go between classes, at recess/lunch, before school, after P.E.

You cannot use the bathroom the first & last 15 minutes of class or during a lecture.

If we are working on an activity or seat work, raise your hand with fingers criss-crossed.

I will need to check your out of class pass and mark that you used 1.

Return to class promptly.

Bathroom

We will learn a lot about science. Make every effort to do what’s expected! We will have fun! We will do several labs in class as well as

outside. We will write procedures in our ISN’s!!!!

This year..
