What Will We Be Doing in Math?

• We use Connected Mathematics 2 Curriculum. This is a problem based approach to math, rather than a procedural approach.

• We are doing different standards this year. Our standards are referred to as Common Core State Standards. 46 other states are participating in these standards!

You will need:

• 2 Folders with brads and pockets• 1 composition book• 3-ring binder (1 ½”) • 5 divider tabs and labels• Calculator• Loose-leaf paper• Lots of pencils• Jump Drive (1-4 GB)• Highlighters

You Will Be Graded On:

• Daily Assignments/ Homework: 15%• Quizzes: 20%• Tests: 65%• Zeroes are NOT acceptable. We will use A+ to

help you gain the knowledge needed to meet the 7th grade standards.• Instruction will be guided by formative

assessments.

Expectation #1

• Be in your seat, filling out agenda in your planner when tardy bell rings with all of your supplies ready. (i.e. pencils sharpened)

• If you are not in your seat when the tardy bell rings, you are late!!

Expectation #2

• After your planner is filled out with Daily Objective, Class work, and Homework you should begin your “bellringer” activity.

• Bring all of your materials for class and take them with you when you leave.

There are certain instances when a student will be sent to the office

immediately (i.e. fighting, bullying, etc.)

Procedure #1

• You will line up outside my door (on the right) until I open the door to let you in the room. Do not enter the room unless the teacher or other adult is in the room.

Entering the Room

• Enter the room quietly.• Sharpen your pencil if necessary.• Sit in your assigned seat.• Review the agenda.• Fill out agenda in planner. • Start working on the bellringer activity.

If you are tardy…

1st - Report to Ms. Webber (ISS) to get a late pass.

2nd - Give me the late pass.3rd - Get busy on your work.

3 tardies will result in isolated lunch.

Turning in papers…

• When you finish your daily work, exit ticket, bell ringer etc. you will turn it into the designated basket on the back table.

Classroom Discussions

• You must participate! I want to hear what you have to say, and your classmates do too!

• Make sure comments and questions are on topic.• Do not talk over each other. Use common

courtesy.• Raise your hand and have patience during whole

group discussion.• Discussion Group Roles may be assigned if

deemed necessary.

Moving around the room during instruction…

• You must ask permission.

• Do not ask during discussion/teaching time unless it is an emergency.

Leaving the room…

• You will be given three restroom passes during each nine week period. You will not receive anymore than this. Use them wisely!

• If an absolute, extreme emergency, you must ask for teacher permission, and it is at teacher discretion.

Class Dismissal…

• I will dismiss you from class, NOT the bell.

• Do not pack up early because it is distracting.

• Wait until I officially dismiss the class.
