6th Grade Science· I am currently in my 7th year of teaching at Feagin Mill. I am a proud graduate of Georgia Southern University for both my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education. Currently, I am working on my Specialist Degree in Middle Grades Education from GSU. For the last two years, I have coached the 7th grade baseball team at FMMS.· In my classroom, the students will be continuing research on volcanoes or earthquakes in order to complete their R.A.F.T. writing assignment. To collaborate with their classmates, the students will be posting their ideas to Padlet. You can find information on the use of Padlet as well as information on how to you use it in your classroom at www.padlet.com.

*Hello! My name is Sonja Wright and this is my 7th year teaching in Houston County. This is my 2nd year at FMMS. I have a Masters in Special Education and an Education Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction. I love working with the students, faculty and staff at Feagin Mill Middle School.
* Today you will join my small group ELA class. We will be reviewing different types of figurative language. Students will use an app called Kahoot. Students will be given questions and they will have multiple choice responses. You can join in on the learning and fun at www.kahoot.it. The pin will be given to you once you enter my room. Kahoot can be accessed with a cell phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. The students will be quizzed on their knowledge. At the end, I have the option of printing out their results and I can go over the items that each student had trouble with.

6th grade Earth Science
Welcome to FMMS. My name is Tomieka Waller. This is my first year teaching at FMMS; however, my 21st year in the profession. I have a Middle Grades Education degree from Georgia College and State University in Math and Science. I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th
grades Math and Science (with Science being my favorite).
Today’s lesson is a Volcano Webquest. The students will be given a task to complete using an assigned website via my Edmodo page. Students will record researched information in their notebooks.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my class.
Mr. Topping Room# 702Availability:9:50-10:15
• 7th Grade Math
• Bio• My name is Matt Topping. I am in my 8th year of teaching math at FMMS,
but my first year teaching 7th grade math. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia Southern University in Sport Management and my Master’s Degree from Graceland University in Quality Schools. I currently coach 8th
Grade Boys Basketball and sponsor Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
• Lesson• My students have spent a total of 3 weeks learning and practicing
probability. Today’s BYOD lesson is intended to serve as a review for the students, as well as a formative assessment piece for me. Students navigate to kahoot.it on their devices, enter the game code and type their name. As the game is advanced they will enter their answer choice for each question directly onto their device. The students receive more points for correctly answering the questions in the least amount of time. After the game, I am able to download a report from Kahoot giving me immediate feedback about their performance.

The choiceboard will be over African History, Government, and Current Events. The devices make it easier to have the students stay in class and research instead of making plans to reserve a computer lab.

Mrs. Henderson Room# 709Availability:9:50-10:15
• 7th Grade Language Arts
• My name is Quishawna Henderson. This is my 6th year teaching, and I teach 7th
grade Honors Math and Honors Language Arts. I received my Bachelors and Masters degrees from Augusta State University, and I am currently pursuing a Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology from Georgia Southern University.
• My Language Arts classes will be reading poetry and identifying various literary elements. Students will use the app Nearpod, and they will enter the session code written on the whiteboard to join the live class session. During the mini-lesson, I will demonstrate identifying various literary elements in poetry. Students will practice this skill using Nearpod answering questions about “Casey at the Bat”. I will navigate questions by transitioning student devices using my computer. This site allows students to work in a stand-alone mode or a controlled environment. Stand-alone mode allows students to work at individual paces while the controlled environment provides the opportunity to monitor student activity. In addition, there are opportunities for students to receive immediate feedback.
Mr. Rainey Room# 710Availability:9:50-10:15
• 7th Grade Math
• My name is Dustin Rainey, and I am a 7th grade Math teacher at Feagin Mill Middle School. I am entering my 8th year of teaching here at FMMS. Over the course of my career, I have observed many innovative teaching strategies and have tried to implement them into my classroom. The use of technology by students in the classroom raises student involvement and focus during your lessons, while maintaining the learning environment we as teachers strive for.
Mrs. Murray Room# 207Availability: 9:50-10:15
• 7th Grade Interrelated • My name is Melissa Murray. I am in my eighth year of teaching interrelated special
education. I taught at Houston County High School for four years and I have been at FMMS for the past four years. This year’s subject area is 7th grade Language Arts.
• My small group ELA class will be reviewing both poetry elements and forms of poetry using the website Koohot. Students will answer a series of questions using their devices. A top scorer is registered after each individual question as well as an overall winner at the end. Kohoot is an excellent tool to engage students in a review over a variety of concepts. Teachers may create their own questions or use one of many shared reviews created by other educators. Best of all the site is free!

8th Honors Science & Social Studies
I’m originally from California born and raised. I went to college at Ripon College in Wisconsin. I completed an alternative teaching certification program while in my first year of teaching. I started off my teaching career as a computer and technology teacher in Chicago, IL in 2005. I spent five amazing years teaching in Chicago. One year teaching English as a second language to 2nd graders in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Two years teaching both 3rd & 4th grade in Houston County then I moved over to FMMS. This is my first year teaching at Feagin Mill Middle School. I also coach 8th
grade cheerleading and girls track and field here at “The Mill”!
Students will participate in playing a Kahoot review game. Kahoot empowers educators and captivates learners. Through the creation of a trusted learning space, educational content is delivered by asking meaningful questions in real-time, creating a social, fun and game-like environment. You can create and play quizzes, discussions or even surveys using any device with a web browser… including a laptop, iPad, iPhone, iPod, Android, Chromebook, Windows Phone or PC.
