Over the two week visit they worked with local people in their fields and helped at our partner school The group produced a blog of their trip which is well worth visiting www.harlawteamrwanda2014.wordpress.com Slide 9 Welcome to Harlaw Academy Our behaviours We will show: Respect for people Respect for learning Respect for community Auschwitz/Birkenau: 20 pupils and 3 staff travelled to Poland to find out more about the holocaust as part of their History and RME courses. Slide 10 Welcome to Harlaw Academy Our vision Heightened expectations that through Learning and courtesy we can all be Happy and successful in an inclusive school Referendum debate: A few days before the referendum a group of 11 senior pupils travelled to the SECC Hydro to take part in the big, big debate. This was a televised debate in front of 8,000 school children. Although our pupils did not get any of their questions broadcast they had a fantastic experience and played an active part in event. Art Projects: The Art department always have lots of activities and projects on-going. Pupils recently designed to be part of an installation at the new GDF Suez offices on Riverside Drive. Food bank: Every month our pupils and staff fill a supermarket trolley with donations for the foodbank at Inchgarth community centre. These small donations can make a massive difference to people in our community Slide 11 Welcome to Harlaw Academy Our vision Heightened expectations that through Learning and courtesy we can all be Happy and successful in an inclusive school Go4Set:Over 100 4th year pupils were working with ConocoPhillips through the STEM Go4Set project. This has been a superb opportunity to experience working with young ConocoPhillips engineers on STEM projects Pupils developed employability skills; problem solving, presentation skills, time keeping and meeting deadlines as well as getting a first class taste of life in the Oil industry.
