Thank you, families, for helping to make our first week a big success! Every week you will receive a Kindergarten Newsletter like this - providing information about curriculum, announcements and upcoming events. ------------------------------- Curriculum Corner We will continue to get to know each other and to learn school rules and routines. Some of the concepts being introduced are: color words, tracking by pointing to the words as we read, counting to 30, shapes (circle, triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon), reciting the days of the week, learning how to read a calendar, and learning how to use a graph and more! ------------------------------- Homework The first 2 homework assignments were due TODAY. If you haven’t already done so, please turn in the “All About Me” page with a photo of your child in the middle and the decorated gingerbread boy/girl. Thank You for the Donations! Thank you to all the families that have already brought in dimes for our Dime-A-Day program and donations from the kindergarten wish list. We invite all parents to volunteer. Each class needs a “Room Parent” to help with school/home communication and a “Monday Homework Helper.” Please let your child’s teacher know if you can help out in any way. -------------------------------- ü Please label all of your child’s belongings: especially jackets/sweaters, backpacks and lunch boxes. ü Label snacks with “S” & lunch with “L”. ü Return all forms from the white envelope and homework folder. ü Send your child in play clothes and safe shoes with Velcro or slip-ons. ü Kindergarten bus riders MUST have a bus tag attached to the top of his/her backpack. ü Be sure the teacher knows of any changes in your child’s pick-up schedule. ü Kindergarten school day 8:45-3:00 Monday through Thursday & 8:45-1:30 on Fridays and all minimum days. ----------------------- Upcoming Events • Curriculum Night, Grades K-2 is Thursday, August 18 th @ 5:30 pm.
