What do you need to bring?• Required documents

• Your child if a language other than English is spoken at home.

Requirements for Katy ISD Registration

• Child must reside in Katy ISD

• When registering your child, you must live within in the Fielder attendance zone.

• Child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2016

Documents Needed for Registration

• Child’s birth certificate (original copy with watermark or seal). Passport is acceptable.

• Child’s social security card**

• Child’s immunization records (Lindi Stegeman, RN)

• Photo ID of parent registering the child

• Proof of residence (current gas, water, or electric bill; HUD statement; or new lease. These are the only forms accepted.

Registration is Online, but you must still come in person!

• Located at www.katyisd.org/registration

• Click on Pre-Registration 2017/2018

• English or Spanish option

• Create an account and begin.

• When you have completed everything, please hit submit and the information will be sent directly to me. There is no need to print your registration, I

will do that here at school.

• If you have not answered everything, InfoSnap will not let you submit so you are not done! Please make sure it says you have successfully submitted your registration and you will receive an email. Look for items marked in

RED

• Please complete this prior to registration day. If you don’t have access to a computer, Fielder will make one available to you.

Attendance

• Always notify the front office if your child is absent. Either by phone at 281-237-6450 or email us at [email protected]

• Report child’s name, teacher, grade, and reason for absence.

• If you do not call, please send a note the following day.

• Compulsory AttendanceState of Texas

• When your child is leaving early, always send a note with date, time, and who is picking the child up. You will fill out emergency contacts for your child- these contacts are in case we can not get a hold of you- they are NEVER eligible to pick up your child

unless you have sent in a note with the names.

• Tardies: Students need to be in class and seated by 8:20a.m.

Absences

A Typical Day in Kindergarten• Kindergarten is a

fun, busy, learning filled day!

• Expect your kids to be happy, well educated, and a bit tired from all of their learning!

Comprehension

Recess

Developmental Centers

• 20 minutes each afternoon

• Time to practice social skills, motor skills, creativity

• Dramatic play, blocks, art, puzzles, games, and computer

Snack Time• Children bring a snack and water

bottle from home each day.• All snacks must be ready to eat.• No refrigeration or heating of

snacks provided.• Your child’s teacher will give

guidelines for the types of snacks at the beginning of the year.

• 10 minutes daily• Peanut safe campus

Transportation

• Teachers supervise children during dismissal.

• Please try to keep the mode of transportation consistent day to day.

• Children get stressed when it changes!

Is your child school bus ready?

• Knows first and last name• Knows parents first and

last name• Can your child remember

this rule, “If unsure of his/her bus stop, tell the bus driver and do not leave the bus.”

• An adult must be present to pick up kindergarten students at the bus stop.

The First Day of School• As it nears:

• Talk about going to school in positive terms.

• Encourage your child to ask questions and share their feelings with you.

• Drive by the school in advance.• Begin bedtime routines several

days in advance.• Reinforce healthy habits such as

hand washing, sneezing, and coughing.

• Read “The Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn

The First Day of School• Meet the Teacher:

• Attend meet the teacher night (You will receive notification of date and time)

• Confirm your child’s method of transportation.

• On the big day:• Arrive on time, but not too early. • Leave cheerfully. Don’t linger.• Keep a positive attitude. If you look forward to the first

day of school, your child probably will too.

First Day Activities

• Learn routines and expectations• Get acquainted with friends and teachers• School tour• Simple readiness activities

Dressing for School• Dress your child in comfortable clothes.• Wear tennis shoes for recess and P.E.

Backpacks• Large enough for folders.

• Easy to open and close.

• NO rolling backpacks, please.

• Send with child every day.

Reminders

• Supplies can be pre-ordered. • Students need a backpack and

lunch.• Goldfish will be provided by the

teachers the first day.• After first day, practice walking

to classroom independently.
