Unity in diversity
As we observe the “Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity”, the ques-tion that we have to ask ourselves, in the light of St. Paul’s teachings, is: to integrate or disintegrate? He speaks about serious differences among the Christians of his time. The situation is no better than what it was; actually, to speak the truth, it is even worse now. However, we still remain hopeful of a complete turnaround so as to shun the differ-ences and aim at building one community of love.
The differences that Paul mentions are not doctrinal but denomina-tional. He stresses two things: a) that we are one in the crucified-risen Christ, and b) baptism binds us into a believing Body. Paul’s good news is always Christ’s cross – sign of scandal, stupidity and small-ness – which reflects the true nature of the Church as to serve the needs of its members and reflect the image of the Servant-Son-
Salvator- Jesus.
It is more fitting to recall the prayer of Pope St. John Paul II as we pray for unity: “May God hasten the hour in which we will be able to live together, not counting the moments of adversity, in the celebra-tion of the holy Eucharist, full communion, and thus contribute in a more effective manner to make the world believe that Jesus is our Lord, and it is He who unites us in the bonds of love, peace and jus-tice”.

Unidad en la diversidad
A medida que observamos la "Octava de oración por la unidad de los cristianos", la pregunta que tenemos que hacernos, a la luz de las en-señanzas de San Pablo, es: ¿integrar o desintegrar? Él habla de serias diferencias entre los cristianos de su tiempo. La situación no es mejor de lo que era; en realidad, para decir la verdad, es aún peor ahora. Sin embargo, aún tenemos la esperanza de un cambio completo para evitar las diferencias y tratar de construir una comunidad de amor.
Las diferencias que menciona Pablo no son doctrinales sino denomi-nacionales. Él enfatiza dos cosas: a) que somos uno en el Cristo resuci-tado crucificado, y b) el bautismo nos une en un Cuerpo creyente. Las buenas noticias de Pablo son siempre la cruz de Cristo, signo de es-cándalo, estupidez y pequeñez, que refleja la verdadera naturaleza de la Iglesia para servir a las necesidades de sus miembros y reflejar la imagen del Siervo-Hijo-Salvador-Jesús.
Es más apropiado recordar la oración del Papa San Juan Pablo II mientras oramos por la unidad: “Que Dios acelere la hora en la que podremos vivir juntos, sin contar los momentos de adversidad, en la celebración de lo sagrado. Eucaristía, comunión plena, y así contri-buir de una manera más efectiva para hacer creer al mundo que Jesús es nuestro Señor, y es Él quien nos une en los lazos de amor, paz y jus-ticia ”.

We will prepare a card “IN HONOR OF” and the name of your loved one and place it in front of the bouquet of flowers.

Sacred Heart Church has the responsibility and is committed to provide Sacramental Prep to anyone needing Sacraments. We would like to remind all parents that receiving a Sacrament is a privilege and a commitment that both Parent and Child need to make. Our Sacramental Prep Program is a 2 year program. Your Child must attend classes regularly. It is the Parent’s re-sponsibility to see that the child has the required attendance to receive the Sacrament.
