On Saturday night, the Saginaw Spirit (27-26-8-0) welcomed the Windsor Spitfires (29-27-3-2) for the third leg of a four-game homestand at The Dow Event Center. In thecontest, Windsor exhibited a balanced attack and scored at least once in each periodwith two goals coming in the final frame. Windsor defenseman Connor Corcoranrecorded two assists on the night and Michael DiPietro earned his 7th shutout of theseason as the Spitfires secured a 4-0 victory in front of a crowd of 4,816. On Sunday night, the Saginaw Spirit (28-26-8-0) hosted the Eastern Conference'sSudbury Wolves (15-38-9-0) for the final edition of a four-game homestand at The DowEvent Center. In the opening frame, Saginaw snapped their offensive drought with athree-goal period and entered the second stanza with a 3-1 lead. During the secondperiod, both clubs put a goal on the scoreboard as Damien Giroux guided a wrist shotpast Wolves goaltender Jake McGrath and Sudbury's Drake Pilon responded with his2nd goal of the contest. The third period saw an empty net goal from Cole Coskey, whichput the game firmly out of reach at 5-2. With tonight's win, the Spirit secure a 2017-18playoff berth, which marks the team's 12th postseason appearance in the last 13seasons. HighlightsBox Score

NEXTEER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nexteer Automotive presents "Player of the Week": Saginaw Spirit Forward , #17 Mason Kohn. The 20 year old forward recorded 3 assists on Sunday evening in a 5-2 victory over the SudburyWolves, surpassing the 50point milestone for the 2017-2018 regular season. Kohn currently hasrecorded 17 goals and 34 assists for a total of 51 points. Since joining the Spirit in early November,Kohn has played in a total of 48 games and has recorded 46 of his 51 points for the season.

Saginaw Spirit forward, Danny Katic, was selected by the Saginaw Spirit as the 152nd overall pick inthe 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The 6'4" forward has played in a total of 49 games in his first year inthe league, recording a total of 14 points (4 Goals, 10 Assists). Danny started playing hockey at theage of 4 years old and says his hockey role model is James van Reimsdyk of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Saginaw Spirit #9 Brady Gilmour, read to thestudents at Handley Elementary School. Sammy Spirit with the help of Charley Porter, Saginaw SpiritDirector of Corporate Partnerships, shared his favorite book with the students of Washington ElementarySchool.
