Hola! Students meet teacher Darlene Bucheger
and volunteer assistants at the first English
Class for Spanish Speakers.

Dear People of Holy Family, St. Mary and St. Anthony Parish:
“Thus will it be for all who store up treasure for themselves but are not rich in what
matters to God.”
(Luke 12:21)
Surely the picture on the front of this bulletin is one of the things that “matters to
God.” Thank you Jack Barrett, Margaret Stauner, Michelle Lindner, Joan Knack and
Pat Billings for volunteering each Tuesday to help our Spanish speaking brothers and
sisters. We have nine students, so we could actually use a couple more volunteers!
Contact Darlene Bucheger if interested at 715-267-6330.
I don’t think I’ve ever had so much news to share in one bulletin letter before! In God’s
own good time, just the right new Kindergarten and 4K teacher has been hired for
St. Anthony’s school. JaNel Heiman taught for 24 years at St. John’s Lutheran School in
Neillsville. She has worked with Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade children
in a variety of combinations. Unfortunately for St. John’s their declining enrollment no
longer supported her position. Their loss is our wonderful gain.
Welcome JaNel to St. Anthony’s School and to our parish
community!
We are also thrilled to welcome Lindsey (Bauer) Mueller to our
staff. Lindsey is our new Little Angels Child Care Director. Lindsey is recently married:
Congratulations! She earned a Child Life Specialist degree after four years of college.
We were taken by her passion for children and her experience with teaching in a
Montessori School. With a director hired we are turning our attention to preparing the
rooms and hiring the teachers. Please see the wish list of items needed in this bulletin. If
you would like to learn more about Little Angels Child Care or register your child for it
you can go to our parish website or contact the parish office.
It is hard to keep track of all that is getting done this summer! St. Mary’s is taking bids at this time for a new
organ and a new sound system for the church. Holy Family has already selected it’s sound system contractor
and is preparing for it’s installation. They are also progressing on their bathroom renovations. Thanks to
Brad Schmidt and St. Joseph’s Hospital, we have about 50 new-used laptops for St. Mary and St. Anthony’s
schools and Religious Education Programs! St. Mary’s is putting in WiFi throughout the school to get the
best use out of the computers.
Coordinators for preparing the House of Mercy apartments have come forward. Mary Ellen Volovsek will
lead for Holy Family Parish and Millie Larson will lead for St. Anthony’s. And Nancy Ewoldt has agreed to
work on the project for St. Mary’s! Please contact them if you’d like to help clean or furnish an apartment!
And if all of this were not enough….at the St. Anthony Parish Council meeting July 21st, it was unanimously
agreed to add a Sunday evening Mass. Down in Mass attendance by over 30% since the schedule was
consolidated and needing to meet the cost of adding a teacher for the school, we knew something had to be
done. And after having tried to renegotiate the present schedule without results, adding a Sunday evening
Mass seemed the only option for drawing people back to the parish.
As pastor, I too, felt the situation has become critical at St. Anthony’s and a significant change had to be
made. It is conceivable that if the Sunday evening Mass becomes well attended we would no longer need the
Saturday evening 6:30 pm Mass. The present plan is to offer the Sunday evening Mass at 7:00 pm during the
summer and at 4:00 pm during the winter. We will change with daylight savings time. We will begin
September 11th. It may be a bit bare bones at first. But once we see who is attending the Mass we can begin
to train and schedule ministers. Please spread the word!
Helping children grow, creating beautiful places of worship, provide shelter to the homeless, and providing
Eucharist when people can come….surely these are some of the things that “matter to God”.
Fr. Steve

We would like to welcome JaNel Heiman to our school staff. JaNel has been hired as the teacher for our new 4K/5K classroom. She has 24 years of teach-ing experience in the primary grades, including time as a teacher of a K/1/2 combination. We are excited to see the positive impact that JaNel’s experience and enthusiasm will have not only on her own students, but on our school as a whole! The school will not be open on a regular schedule during the summer. However, if you have any questions, or you would like to schedule a tour, you may contact Mrs. Pat Billings, our school admin-istrator, by leaving a voicemail at 255-8636, or email-ing [email protected]. Have a wonderful summer!

It is time to begin planning for the Loyal Corn
Festival. This year the ecumenical church service will be held at St. Anthony Parish on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 6:30 pm. I would like to invite all who enjoy singing to join the ecumenical choir and raise our voices together for this special church ser-vice during Corn Fest. Practices will be held on the Wednesday evenings during August (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th) at 7:00 pm at St. Anthony Parish. We would also plan to meet at 5:45 pm on the 25th for a final review of the music before the service. Please consider joining the ecumenical choir.
