How Future Registration Works:

Registration Appointments

For future quarters you will be provided a schedule

registration appointment, based on your academic progress

A few weeks prior to registration, for each quarter, you can

check your registration appointment/rotation in your Student

Center

You will have one registration priority to use during your first year only

Using your priority enables you to jump in front of the regular registration to register for classes

Once you select to use the priority (in your Student Center) you must use it

The priority must be used during priority registration time

Please review the Office of the Registrar’s webpage regarding information on priorities and 2015-2016 registration schedules

Withdrawal Policy

Students can drop a class without penalty through their Student Center until the 8th day instruction each quarter.

If you wish to withdraw from a class after the drop deadline,

you must have serious and compelling reasons.

You are allowed to take 16 units total: 4 units of CR/NC in General Education courses (1 course)

Up to 12 units of CR/NC in Free Electives

If you use free electives for a minor – see minor advisor for CR/NC

• Choose a unit load of 12-16 units.– Consider outside commitments & the fast pace of the

quarter system when determining your unit load.

– Be sure to check prerequisites in the catalog description

• If all lower division GE has been satisfied, select an upper division GE area C4, D5 or F.

• Tip: Look for GE courses that can double count for the USCP requirement and/or GWR requirement!

The Registration Process (Fall 2015)

Seats reserved in major, support & GE courses.

There are two types of open courses:

1. Course has available seats and zero on the waitlist

– You will immediately be registered, as long as you meet the prerequisites

2. Course has available seats, but has a waitlist started

– You may not be enrolled automatically.

– Instead you will waitlist – it is important to check the “Waitlist if class is full” box for all.

– When waitlists are run at 3pm, the process will skip the continuing students on the

waitlist and add eligible transfers.

– You can check your final schedule by 4pm in your Student Center.

Now What???

1. Understand your transfer credit– Using your Degree Progress Report, cross off what you have completed on your

Curriculum Sheet and Flowchart.

2. Start to plan your fall schedule! Get familiar with PASS (Plan A Student Schedule) Available Aug 5th– Use your major’s fall Recommended Course Offerings & Registration Tips as a guide.

– Use the course descriptions in PASS to identify the courses for which you have met prerequisites and to check what courses are available.

3. Push courses to your Student Center– “Push” your ideal 16 units from PASS into your Student Center.

– The goal is to be enrolled in 12-16 degree-applicable units by Thursday of this week when registration closes. Registration reopens to add up to 22 units on August 17.

– Have alternative classes ready to add to your schedule.

4. At 2pm Aug 10: Register via your Student Center

5. At 3pm Aug 10: Check your schedule to see if you were added to any courses from the waitlist

The purpose is:

• To help you map out the courses you need to graduate, term by term

• To help Cal Poly departments determine future course offerings

Keeping your PolyPlanner up to date is required:

• Login and adjust any time you make a change to your registration and by no later

than the add/drop deadline of each quarter

• Be sure to have at least three future quarters planned (excluding summer)

Note: PolyPlanner does not guarantee you will get into courses, or that specific

courses will be offered.

• You can add up to 16 units between Aug 11-13

• 2nd Round registration starts on Aug 17, when you can adjust your schedule & add up to 22 units

• “Open Enrollment” for all students is Aug 22-Sept 16

• Be sure to print your final class schedule for your records

• Advising Center open Monday Aug 10th 4-6pm
