    Cylch Welcome to the

  • ‘The research showed that children who attend

Mudiad Meithrin’s cylchoedd develop considerably across

a wide range of Welsh language skills.’

    Professor Colin Baker

The language of the Cylch Meithrin● Welsh is the language of the Cylch Meithrin.● Both non-Welsh-speaking children and Welsh-speaking children are equally welcome.● Emphasis is placed upon giving every child the opportunity to learn a wide range of Welsh language skills.● Research by Professor Colin Baker and Elen Lloyd Roberts of Bangor University notes the important contribution of Mudiad Meithrin’s Cylchoedd Meithrin to the future of the Welsh language:

As a parent, deciding on the best education for your child will be one of the most important decisions you will make. A large number of parents say that choosing Welsh-medium education for their child has proven to be a worthwhile experience for the child and for the family in general. Moving from a Cylch Meithrin to Welsh-medium education is a natural and important step for your

child so that he/she can continue with his/her education through the medium of Welsh.

Did you know that:60% of children attending Cylchoedd Meithrin come from non-Welsh speaking homes.86% of children attending Cylchoedd Meithrin progress to Welsh-medium education (Mudiad Meithrin data 2015/16)

Each Cylch Meithrin is an independant entity managed by a voluntary management committee with valuable support offered by Mudiad Meithrin as part of its membership services. Mudiad Meithrin, and therefore the Cylch Meithrin, aims to give every young child in Wales the opportunity to benefi t from early years experiences through the medium of the Welsh language.
