M A R K Y O U R C A L E N D A R S . . .F O R CHRISTMAS EVE! The Advent and Christmas Seasons are very special times at St. Francis de Sales. Christmas Eve is especially exciting when we walk into church and see the sparkling lights on all the trees, the Christmas flowers, and the creche waiting for the baby Jesus to be placed between Mary and Joseph. Christmas this year falls on a Monday so something is happening that only occurs one time every seven years. The Fourth Sunday of Advent takes place on Christmas Eve! Because of this unusual timing, there will be only two Masses on the morning of Dec. 24. Those Masses will be at7:30 and 9:00 a.m. (no 10:30 a.m. Mass) The times for Christmas Eve Masses are changing slightly this year. Father Mark would like to celebrate the Children’s Mass at both St. Francis and St. Benedict so we have each altered our schedules so that can happen. The Children’s Mass will be at 3: 00 p.m. with music by the Children’s Choir. There will then be a 4:30 p.m. Mass in the church. The later Mass will be at 10:00 p.m. with music by the Adult Choir beginning at 9:40 p.m.. We will be putting out reminders in the coming weeks about these time changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

LET US HELP WITH YOUR HOLIDAY BAKING Catholic Daughters will have a Bake Sale on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 & 10 after all the Masses. Stop by to pick up a delicious treat for now or to freeze for later. All proceeds will be used for the charitable projects supported by Catholic Daughters.

CATHOLIC DAUGHTER NEWS The next meeting of the Catholic Daughters will be Dec. 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the parish center. You are invited to bring an ornament and join in our ornament exchange. See you there. Please call our Regent, Lois Maywald, with any questions at (262) 279-5733.

LAKELAND NURSING HOME SCHEDULES The Lakeland Nursing home schedules are in the folder in the chapel entrance

CHRISTMAS MEMORIALS

As we end a month of remembering those who have gone before us in faith, another opportunity to remember our loved ones appears. During the seasons of Advent and Christmas, many of us are reminded of those who are no longer with us. If you would like to remember a loved one this Christmas Season, please consider offering a Memorial in their honor. Your donation will go toward the cost of our seasonal church decorations. If you would like to remember your loved ones, please complete the form below and return it to the parish office, along with your donation, no later than Monday, Dec. 18. THANK YOU!! The names of those remembered will be published in a special bulletin in the beginning of January.

SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Friday, Dec. 8, is the day we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The day marks our belief that God preserved Mary from any inclination to sin, the inheritance of original sin passed on to all mankind from Adam and Eve. It is the patronal feast day of the United States and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales that day at 7 a.m., 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

DECEMBER KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BREAKFAST At our December K of C Breakfast, on Dec. 10, the Knights will have Christmas carolers there singing Christmas songs. Santa Claus will also be at our Breakfast paying us a visit. Won’t you please stop in and listen to some songs and visit with Santa? Thank you from the K of C Council #1647.

FIESTA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE VIGILIA/ FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE VIGIL Vigil begins Monday, Dec. 11, at 6:00 p.m. and continues through the night, ending with Las Mananitas at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Dec. 12. Then at 5:30 p.m. the evening of Dec. 12 there will be a remembrance/ re-enactment of the ‘Dia de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe’ followed by Spanish Mass at 6:00 p.m. and hospitality immediately following mass. Memorare of Our Lady of Guadalupe Remember, O most gracious Virgin of Guadalupe, that in your heavenly apparitions on the mount of Tepeyac, you promised to show your compassion and pity towards all who, loving and trusting you, seek your help and call upon you in their necessities and afflictions. You promised to hear our supplications, to dry our tears, and to give us consolation and relief. Never has it been known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, we fly to you, O Mary, ever-Virgin Mother of the true God! Though grieving under the weight of our sins, we come to prostrate ourselves before you. We fully trust that, standing beneath your shadow and protection, nothing will trouble or afflict us, nor do we need to fear illness or misfortune, or any other sorrow. O Virgin of Guadalupe, you want to remain with us through your admirable Image, you who are our Mother, our health, and our life. Placing ourselves beneath your maternal gaze, and having recourse to you in all our necessities, we need do nothing more. O Holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer us. Amen

PET SUPPORT GROUP am hoping to begin a pet support group for those among us who, like myself, are having a difficult time moving forward. Grief, emotional pain, guilt and many other facets of grieving the loss of a pet can become overwhelming for many of us and having others who share in your grief can often times assist in the healing. If there is enough interest I am hoping to secure a room at the church for this purpose, date/time TBD based on response. If interested please contact Dawn at (262) 203-5472. Responses should be received no later than Jan. 12, 2018.

Donations helped support the Lakeland Animal Shelter.
