The Pancake House continues to with the addition of three businesses and an expanded Christmas House. There is no need to worry – The Pancake House continues the long- standing tradition of offering huge portions of an ever-expanding menu and the same exceptional customer service that brings people back year after year and pleasantly surprises newcomers. We enjoy the distinction of being McCall’s oldest restaurant with the same name and also being one of McCall’s premiere dining establishments. What started as the Pinecrest in 1949, offering drive-up service, evolved into the Pancake House, featuring homemade jams and jellies, and blossomed into a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu with homemade breads and mammoth- sized cinnamon rolls. Like most of us, The Pancake House was born from humble beginnings. After outgrowing an extensively remodeled old house, a new custom 11,000 sq. ft. building was constructed by George Bertram and good friends and local craftsmen Bill Rice, Scott Keithley and John Clark. The doors opened on April 1, 2002 a mere 8 months to the day from breaking ground. The beautiful lodge- like facility can accommodate large parties or you can enjoy an intimate meal in one of many private booths. Visitors can’t say enough about the ambiance that results from prominently displayed food-related antiques that have been acquired over a 40-year period. Recently the front of the building has undergone a transformation. Owner, Bonnie Bertram decided she wanted to offer a more intimate atmosphere to her customers who dine in pairs so she created a dining room similar to a southern tea room with shabby chic décor, small two-top tables and completed the look with romantic Edison bulbs strung throughout. Check it out! The Christmas House Adjacent to the East end of the dining room, The Christmas House is known to be the largest Christmas store in the Pacific Northwest. Open all year around, it is a popular specialty shop destination with a HUGE offering! Owner, Cori Rice is proud to offer ornaments representing hobbies, occupations, family & milestones, pets, vintage-inspired, assorted angels, cartoon and child- themes, nutcracker, icicles and snowflakes, gingerbread & everything in between! If they make it, she carries it. You will also find complete lines of everything you need to deck your halls in a truly unique and spectacular way. Need a stocking, tree skirt, nativity, wreath, garland or one-of-a-kind specialty figurine? She has those too! While the main focus of The Christmas House is to bring Christmas to our customers every day of the year, she also offers expanded items such as spring, summer, fall season specific items and everyday home décor, linens, music box, candles, tableware and gift line including a variety of inspirational gifts. Santa’s Sweet Shoppe offerings have been relocated in The Christmas House. While a few candy items remain in the front of the building, the largest selection of candy reminiscent of an old-fashioned candy store can be found in The Christmas House. Most items are super- sized and super fun for little and big kids alike. Santa is proud to offer artisan chocolates, caramels and candy canes as well as lollipops in all shapes and sizes ranging from single ounce all the way up to 3 pounders! Bring your sweet tooth!
