Live Tutoring

Page 11: Welcome to the Unit Two Seminar for KU 121!

Our live tutors are available 15 hours each week:

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET

(Please note we are closed all other days, including official University holidays).

Click on "Speak with a Writing Center Tutor“ link and "Join Live Tutorial“ will

appear. This is where you can interact with a friendly, capable tutor.

* Our tutors are 100% genuine Kaplan University professors. That means they are fully experienced, completely trained, and ready to help you with any area and any stage of writing.

Live TutoringFeeling unorganized? Commas giving you fits? Relax.

Page 12: Welcome to the Unit Two Seminar for KU 121!

You can easily submit a question for a tutor. With our 24/7 “Q & A Center,” you can type out any writing question you have directly on the screen and leave it with us. This is especially helpful when you cannot make it during “live tutor” hours, or have a rather complicated question.

For example, let’s say you have an unusual source you want to cite or reference in a paper, and none of your APA tip sheets or websites show a good example. Post your question in the “Q&A Center” and we will get back with you in approximately 24 hours.

Q&A CenterCan’t squeeze a tutor into your busy schedule? No problem.

Page 13: Welcome to the Unit Two Seminar for KU 121!

In the Writing Center’s Reference Library, we have a wide variety of tips on common writing issues under these categories:

Writing Types and Tools Writing Process Research, Citation, and Plagiarism, Writing Mechanics

These student friendly, professor approved PDF documents can be saved to your computer and easily printed.

The “Research, Citation, and Plagiarism” section is particularly helpful. If you are having trouble with APA (formatting, in-text citations, creating a reference page), this section can help, and “APA 101” is a great place to start.

Reference LibraryIt’s 3 in the morning. You need to know what? We probably have the answer.

Page 14: Welcome to the Unit Two Seminar for KU 121!

How do you do it? Easy. Attach your paper to an email

message from your Kaplan account and send it to:

[email protected]

In KU Campus, click on the “Mail” link in the upper-right corner of the page, then click

on “Compose” and “Add Attachment.”

But don’t stop reading yet …

When you “Submit a Paper for Feedback,” one of our tutors will review it and give you some valuable suggestions to help you improve your writing. This is especially useful during the draft stage of the writing process. Our tutors will return your paper (with clear, useful suggestions) within 48-72 hours. Nice!

Paper Review ServicePaper due next week? We can help.

Page 15: Welcome to the Unit Two Seminar for KU 121!

• This service does not guarantee higher grades; grades on projects are strictly the domain of your Kaplan University professor. Use the comments you receive from

the Paper Review Service to create a stronger draft of your project. • Papers must be submitted as an attached Word .doc, .docx, or .rtf file. Failure to do this will delay timely feedback. • With your submission, you must provide:

your full name your Kaplan email address an alternative email address (for example, hotmail, Gmail, yahoo, etc.) your course and section number (for example, CM220-01) the name of your instructor

• Please include only one project per email request. If you have more than one paper to be reviewed, please compose a separate email for each.• While all other resources offered by the Writing Center are unlimited, students are allowed to submit five projects per term for review by our tutors.

Paper Review Service… it’s important to note:
