• We may also accept Foundation diplomas or equivalent

The purpose of the BA (Hons) Acting is to produce professional actors who have the imagination and determination to work successfully in stage, screen and mediated voice performance.

Utilising classical and contemporary acting techniques, our graduates will be able to sustain believable characters and contexts with a thorough grasp of textual analysis, and the vocal and physical skills necessary for the professional performance industry.

• Your teaching is done over a 30+ hour week in specialist studios.

• 4 full-time members of staff with over 20 specialist industry professionals.

• A balance of 80% practical and 20% theoretical training and assessment.

London Showcase

• As a culmination of three years of rigorous training, agents, casting directors, producers and directors are invited to watch our graduating actors perform and then network with them as they prepare to enter the industry.

• This is currently held at The Tristan Bates Theatre in London's West End.

Year one.

Actor training.

You will study: script analysis, character development, performing truthfully.

Vocal training.

You will learn: how to produce your voice to a professional standard, how to keep your voice healthy, how to be confident vocally, especially when singing

Physical training.

You will learn: how to use body language to communicate, dance technique, basic stage combat skills..

Creative practice.

You will learn: how to develop your creativity through improvisation and play.

Actor training.

You will study: screen acting, acting for radio, performing Shakespeare.

Vocal training.

You will study: accents, monologue techniques, acting through song.

You will learn: physical theatre techniques, advanced stage combat.

Creative practice.

You will learn: film making, script writing, site-specific theatre, immersive theatre.

Year two.

Year three.Six projects.

1. Work with a professional director on a text–based public performance.

2. Work with a professional director adapting a novel or a film to be performed at the Royal & Derngate Theatre.

3. Create a public performance for a specific social group under the supervision of a professional director/producer.

4. Create a show suitable for national touring. This will be performed in a Fringe Theatre Festival.

5. Get ready for the industry (e.g. CV, headshots, create your own web page, show reel, voice reel and portfolio of audition pieces ).

6. Perform in a London Showcase for agents and casting directors.

• Agents and casting directors are invited to come and see the students in a showcase performance directed by a professional director

• This is currently held at The Soho Theatre in London's West End.

The opportunity to study Drama as a Joint Honoursstudent leads to a rich and diverse combination of students studying alongside one another, intertwining perspectives and knowledge gained on other courses.

The Foundation and HND programmes further diversify the perspectives, interests and career outlooks of the student body, which in turn reflects the multitude of careers and specialties that may be pursued in the wider field of Drama.

At the centre of the programme’s practical learning is the development of a collaborative, imaginative, reflexive and critically engaged mindset.

The Drama programme prepares students with a practical toolbox of methodologies and approaches to theatre-making in order to situate themselves within the diverse career pathways within the fields of Drama, Theatre and Performance industries.

research endeavor developing a full-length

new work in Specialist Theatre, which is

produced for a public audience at the end of

the year.
