The Federal Institute of Hydrology is ...

• a higher authority of the Federal Republic of Germany reporting to the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (BMVBS)• the scientific institute of the Federal Government for research, assessment and consulting in the fields of

– hydrology– water resources management– ecology and– conservation of waters

• the specialised consultant of the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV) with regard to planning, development and new construction of Federal waterways

• consultant for Federal Ministries (BMVBS, BMU, BMBF) in decision-making

• 265 permanent employees and about 80 on a time-contract base
