First Week of School Information

• You MUST ride the bus in the morning if you plan to ride the bus in the afternoon for the first 5 days of school!

• Wear tennis shoes on PE days.• Breakfast and lunch are FREE to ALL

elementary students!

We will practice these behaviors daily!

Students receive bucks when they are caught demonstrating traits of the Lifelong Guidelines. The bucks are used for various types of rewards.

TRUSTWORTHINESS: To act in a manner that makes one worthy of trust and confidence.

TRUTHFULNESS: To act with personal responsibility and mental accountability.

ACTIVE LISTENING: To listen attentively and with the intention of understanding.

CARING: To use words, actions, and/or body language that show you care about others.

PERSONAL BEST: To do one’s best given the circumstances and available resources.

Class Dojo

• You can change your avatar.• Your parents can check your dojo online.• You earn positive points for wise choices.• You earn negative points for unwise choices.• Your conduct grade is determined from your dojo:

90% - 100% positive to negative dojos= E 80% - 89% positive to negative dojos= S 70% - 79% positive to negative dojos= N Below 70% positive to negative dojos= UYou will also receive a U in conduct if you receive 2 or more Behavior Letters or 1 or more referrals during a grading period.

First Day of School Procedure

• Say, “Good morning!” to Mrs. Price.• Find you desk.• Place baggies, tissues, notebook paper, index

cards, and wipies in the correct location.• Hang your backpack on the back of your chair.• Work on the assignment at your desk.• If you have a question raise your hand and

wait quietly for Mrs. Price to come to you.

Late to School

• Come directly to class if you arrive before 7:45 am.

• Get a pass from Guidance if you arrive after 7:45 am.

Teacher Isn’t in the Classroom Procedure

• Unless given permission, stay outside the classroom if an adult isn’t in the classroom.

• Line up on the wall outside the classroom, and have a seat.

• Wait quietly (voices off) so that other classes are not disturbed.

• Read silently while you are waiting.

Good Morning Procedure

• Tell your teacher, “Good morning!”

• Unpack for the day.• Hang your jacket,

backpack, and lunchbox in your cubby.

• Write your homework and Spelling words in your planner.

• Silently review the agenda for the day.

• Put notes to the teacher & papers signed by your parents in the gray tray.

• Take out your homework for the HW Checker.

• Complete Morning Work assignment written on the board.

• Leave your planner open on your desk for your teacher to check.

Finger Procedure

1. I need a pencil.2. Be quiet.3. I need to use the bathroom. (We will have

bathroom break times. If you go any other time, you must pay $1 before you go.)

4. I need to get out of my seat.5. I have a relevant question or comment.

Pencil Procedures

• I will sharpen pencils at the end of each day. We do not use mechanical pencils in class. You may use those at home!

• You may not sharpen pencils during class time.• If you break a lead, you may trade out for another

pencil. Put the broken pencil in the cup labeled “Dull”. Take a new pencil from the “Sharpened” cup.

• If you lose or break more than one pencil during class time, you will need to pay $1 for a replacement.

• If you come to class without a pencil you need to pay $1.

Changing Tasks Procedure

1. Quickly and neatly clean up.2. Get new materials or move to the next place

quickly and quietly.3. Use body language to demonstrate that you

are ready to begin.4. If working independently, begin working

immediately.

Center Procedures

1. Do your best, and do your part!2. Switch centers quickly and quietly.3. Act in a safe and responsible way.4. Use collaborative conversation to solve

problems.5. Be SMART about the bathroom.6. Ask 3 before me! HOWEVER, if you need the

teacher, stand next to Mrs. Price silently until you are acknowledged.

Line Up Procedure• Stand up and push in your chair without talking.• Line up in alphabetical order unless you are told otherwise.• The Line Leader is at the front of the line.• The Door Holder stands behind the Line Leader, ready to open the

door when told. • Stand behind the person in front of you.• Make sure you give the person in front of you personal space

(magic genie arms).• Face the front.• Put your hands at your side, behind your back, or in your

pockets…and always away from others!• Stand quietly (voices off) and wait for directions.

Walking in Line Procedure• The line leader leads the way.• After holding the door, the Door Holder will quickly (and safely) pass the

line to catch up to walk behind the Line Leader.• Stay quiet when walking, and listen for teacher instructions.• At all times walk behind the person in front of you.• Keep personal space between you and the person in front of you, but stay

with the class.• Walk on the right side of the sidewalk.• Stay on the sidewalk at all times.• Keep your hands at your sides, behind your back, or in your pockets.• Hands stay off others , walls, and poles.• Always walk facing forward.• Always walk.

Line Up for Other Teachers

• If you are with another teacher ( for example: PE) line up the way that teacher tells you.

• Wait in line quietly.• Stay one behind the other.• When Mrs. Price picks you up the Line Leader

and Door Holder can move to their positions.• Everyone else will stay in the position decided

by the other teacher.

Entering the Cafeteria Procedure

• Enter the cafeteria only after your teacher has told you to do so.

• Voices are OFF from the time you enter the cafeteria.• Enter the food line on the side our class is assigned.• Quickly and quietly get your utensils, food, and drink.• When you enter your student number you must also say

your name for the cafeteria worker.• Walk to our class table, sit down with your voices off,

and eat your lunch.• You may socialize quietly, but don’t forget to eat!

Cafeteria Procedure• The first 10 minutes of lunch just eat your lunch.• Use table manners when eating.• You are to eat ONLY your food.• Clean up any messes or accidents immediately.• Stay in your seat at all times, unless you have permission from a

Teacher’s Assistant. Raise your hand to ask.• You may talk ONLY to the people at your table sitting next to you, across,

and diagonally from you. • Stay at your designated table facing forward at all times.• If you are on silent lunch, voices are OFF.• You may sit where you’d like at our table as long as you follow these

procedures, otherwise, seats will be assigned.• You may read silently .

Exiting the Cafeteria• When the teacher is at your table; eating stops, voices are immediately off

and clean up starts.• Place your trash on your tray as quickly and quietly as possible.• When told, stand up, push in your chair and with voices off; gather your

belongings and your tray.• The side of the table closest to the door will exit first.• Carefully place your tray with your trash in the trash can located at the end

of your table.• Walking in a line, go to the designated area, and get into alphabetical order.

Remain with voices off. The Cafeteria Assistant will make sure our table if left neat.

• Line Leader and Door Holder will move to their positions.• When told to exit, walk out in a quiet line (voices off), and line up on the

wall outside the cafeteria.

Packing Up for the Day Procedure

• Write your homework in your planner if you have not already done so.

• Review what you need to pack up to complete your homework.

• Make sure your desk is neat and pick up any trash on the floor near your desk.

• If you have them, get your lunchbox and jacket/sweater from your cubbie.

• Push in your chair.• Read until you are told to line up to leave.

Line Up to Go Home Procedure• All students, including the Line Leader and Door Holder will line up in their

designated line:– Extended Day students will line up first.– Car riders will line up second.– Walkers and Daycare line up third.– Bus riders will line up in the bus order Mrs. Price calls out.

• Stay in the order you are told to get in.• Put your backpack on your back, and carry your other items neatly so they

don’t drop.• Make sure you have personal space from the person in front of you.• Unless your arms are full, keep your hands at your side, behind your back,

or in your pockets.• Stand in line behind the person in front of you facing forwards. Stay quiet

(voices off), and listen for instructions from Mrs. Price.

Sick or Injured Procedure• The clinic is not a doctor’s office. Therefore, generally you may only go

if you have a fever, are bleeding, have an injury, allergic reaction, vomiting, or need to take medicine prescribed by your doctor.

• If any of the above have occurred put your head down and give a thumbs up sign.

• In case of a medical emergency, interrupt Mrs. Price immediately for help.

• If you have a small cut and need a Band-Aid, cover the cut with a tissue and raise your hand. Please wait patiently until Mrs. Price gets to you.

• If you are injured during PE tell the coach IMMEDIATELY. Coach will send you to the clinic if it is needed. Don’t wait until PE is over.

• If you have a cold, or just feel a bit blah…try to stick it out.• The Teacher’s Assistant will escort you to the clinic if you need to go.

Neatness Procedure

• Use your neatest handwriting at ALL times.• Head up notebook paper like the example on the wall.• Drawings are allowed if it helps you understand something,

or if it helps you explain something better to me.• Always put things where they belong as soon as you are

finished with them.• Trash goes in the trash can, NOT your desk!• Make sure papers are put in folders straight to keep them

from being wrinkled or torn.• Clean out your backpack at home EVERYDAY!

Organized Desk Procedure

The following items are the ONLY things allowed in your desk:• Eyeglasses case, if needed• Your pencil when not using it• Reading textbooks

Organized Classroom Procedure

• Journals, workbooks, and folders are stored in the colorful bins by each group.

• Return library books right side up, with the spine facing out. Take care not to overlap other books.

• Put things where they go as soon as you are finished using them.

UNRAAVEL what you read when you read for a purpose!

1. Draw a line under the title.2. Predict what the selection is all about based on the title and any

text features.3. Number the paragraphs on each page.4. Read the questions.5. Circle important/ key words.6. Read the selection.7. Put an “x” at the end of any obviously wrong answer choices.8. Write the paragraph number that helped you answer the

question next to the answer you marked.9. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK!!!!!!
