Auction Rules and Procedures

• All guests receive a bid number when registering at the event. Each silent auction item will have its own bid sheet. The bidder must legibly write his or her name and bid number, as well as the amount of the bid.

• Bids without bid numbers are considered invalid. Minimum bids, in the increments shown on each sheet, must be honored. Once a bid is entered, it may not be removed or crossed out. All items will have bid forms attached or positioned nearby. Under no circumstances may these forms be removed from the items.

• Silent Auction closing times will be posted at the event and the close will be audibly announced by the emcee. Winning bids will be finalized by an auction official. Any disputes will be arbitrated by the auction chair.

• Live Auction bidders may enter a bid by raising their bid number toward the auctioneer. A bid is registered only when formally recognized and called by the auctioneer. The bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer as the successful bidder will be the buyer. In the event of a dispute between bidders, the auctioneer will have the sole and final discretion to determine the winning bidder. With the word “sold” from the auctioneer, the successful bidder has been determined and the sale is final. If the auctioneer determines that the bidding does not reflect the value of the item offered, he may reject all bids and withdraw the item from the sale.

Express Check OutPayment by credit card, cash or check will be accepted the night of the event. You may also take advantage of the Express Pay option by providing your credit card information when you RSVP or at the check in table at the party.

Sign Up PartiesWe have a number of exciting teacher and parent sign-up parties for the auction this year. Spaces for these parties are offered at a fixed price. All parties that have not reached the stated capacity will be posted at school after the event for an additional opportunity to sign up for the stated price.

General Rules• All sales are final, no exchanges or refunds are possible. Your signature on the bid sheet constitutes a legal

contract to purchase.

• Placing your bid number and name on the guaranteed bid line automatically closes the bidding for that item and that item is yours.

• Many items have specific conditions or requirements. The winner is to adhere to any restrictions as stated on the bid sheet and donor form.

• All items are sold “as is.” All items purchased are to be used as stated on the bid sheet, certificate, or on the donor form.

• Hotel reservations are subject to availability and may be subject to blackout periods.

• Due to the nature of the children’s art offered at the event, the fair market value stated represents only the expenses reimbursed for purchasing the art supplies to create the items. Numerous volunteer hours were spent in the creation of these items. Therefore, these treasures are considered to be priceless.

Tax Deductibility of Auction Items Per the IRS, donors who purchase items at a charity auction may claim a charitable contribution deduction for the excess of the purchase price paid for an item over its fair market value. The donor must be able to show, however, that he or she knew that the value of the item was less than the amount paid. For example, a charity may publish a catalog, given to each person who attends an auction, providing a good faith estimate of items that will be available for bidding. Assuming the donor has no reason to doubt the accuracy of the published estimate, if he or she pays more than the published value, the difference between the amount paid and the published value may constitute a charitable contribution deduction.

902 “High Plateau, Tibet” by lisa Kristine“For centuries the Buddhist Kingdom of Tibet has been land-locked by the mountainous mass of the Himalayas. While moving through such landscape one morning I saw a woman walking to her fields. What struck me was the dancing, ever changing light on the colossal land mass along with the golden glow of river –I also noticed the joyous expression on the farmer’s face. On the rooftop of the world, in a country so vast, the remoteness and climatic extremes pose unique challenges for the farmers, or Rongpa, who call it home. Here is a rare place where one can walk for days on end, witnessing the ancient and sophisticated culture without having the experience marred by the dross of modern civilization.” This captivating photographic print comes to you framed and is 16” x 20”.Donor: lisa Kristine Value: $800
