Page 7: Welcome to Trinity

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION

C: We confess that we are born in bondage to sin

And cannot free ourselves.

We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,

By what we have done

And by what we have failed to do.

Page 8: Welcome to Trinity

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION

We have not loved you with our whole heart,

And we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves.

We deserve your eternal punishment.

For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ,

Have mercy on us.

Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

We praise you, Lord, for Jesus Christ

1. We praise you, Lord, for Jesus Christ,

who died and rose again;

he lives to break the power of sin

and over death to reign.

Page 13: Welcome to Trinity

We praise you, Lord, for Jesus Christ

2. We praise you that this child now shares

the freedom Christ can give,

has died to sin with Christ, and now

with Christ is raised to live.

Page 14: Welcome to Trinity

We praise you, Lord, for Jesus Christ

3. We praise you, Lord, that now this child

is grafted to the vine,

is made a member of your house

and bears the cross as sign.

 4. We praise you, Lord, for Jesus Christ,

he loves this child we bring:

he frees, forgives, and heals us all,

Holy baptismSCRIPTURAL COMMAND:

Our Lord Jesus Christ says: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

17

Page 18: Welcome to Trinity

18

Holy baptism ADDRESS

The word of God teaches that we are born

sinful and unclean, but God washes us

clean in the waters of baptism, and we are

born again as his children. Through

baptism our heavenly Father forgives us

our sins and unites us with our Lord Jesus

Christ, so that we share in his death and

resurrection. And the Holy Spirit renews us

and gives us eternal life.

Page 19: Welcome to Trinity

19

Holy baptism ADMONITION

C: Glory to You O Lord, Light of the world.

Page 63: Welcome to Trinity

Luke 2:41-52

M: 41Every year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for Passover. 42And when Jesus was twelve years old, they all went there as usual for the celebration.

Page 64: Welcome to Trinity

Luke 2:41-52

43After Passover his parents left, but they did not know that Jesus had stayed on in the city. 44They thought he was travelling with some other people, and they went a whole day before they started looking for him.

Page 65: Welcome to Trinity

Luke 2:41-52

45When they could not find him with their relatives and friends, they went back to Jerusalem and started looking for him there.

46Three days later they found Jesus sitting in the temple, listening to the teachers and asking them questions.

Page 66: Welcome to Trinity

Luke 2:41-52

47Everyone who heard him was surprised at how much he knew and at the answers he gave.

48When his parents found him, they were amazed. His mother said, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been very worried, and we have been searching for you!”

Page 67: Welcome to Trinity

Luke 2:41-52

49Jesus answered, "Why did you have to look for me? Didn't you know that I would be in my Father's house?"

50But they did not understand what he meant.

Page 68: Welcome to Trinity

Luke 2:41-52

51Jesus went back to Nazareth with his parents and obeyed them. His mother kept on thinking about all that had happened. 52Jesus became wise, and he grew strong. God was pleased with him and so were the people.
