 Over  a  thousand  years  ago,  the  Roman  emperor   Julius   Caesar   decided   to  encapsulate   his   achievements   in   a  single  statement.    

Veni,  Vidi,  Vici.    

I  came,  I  saw,  I  conquered.  

It   wasn’t   arrogant.   It   wasn’t   brash.   It  was  the  simple  truth,  and  he  knew  it.  

There   isn’t   much   that   a   ruler   of   an  empire,   which   existed   eras   before   the  medieval  ages,  would  have  in  common  with   a   group  of   students   at   a  modern  day   international   school.   His   Roman  Eagle   is   now   a   fierce   wolf,   burnished  shields  have  now  turned  into  generous  

sponsorships,   and   infantry   swords  have   been   replaced   with   walkie-­‐talkies.     Yet   the   spirit   captured   by  both  is  the  same.    

We’ve   been   through   a   lot   to   bring  VIVUMtwelve   before   you   today.   This  motto   conveys   the   painstaking   effort  needed   to   overcome   the   challenges,  the   fear,   and   the   anxiety   that   the  towering   task   of   organizing   TISB’s  annual   fest   entails.   We’ve   done   all  this   and   more,   we   have   realized   a  dream   that   was   in-­‐the-­‐making   long  before  it  started  several  months  ago.  

This  motto  etches  our  pride   in  stone,  having  come  so  far  for  all  to  see.  It’s  a  testament  to  our  victory.
