MATCH REPORTS:

First Team –

Toss: Perivale won the toss & stuck us in

Wycombe House: 64 all out

Edmonton: 66-9 in 37 overs (Mehboob 6wkts)

Result: Perivale won by 1 wickets

What can only be described as a dismal day and embarrassment to the club to get bowled out for 64.

First Team discuss a desperate defeat after the game

Second Team –

Toss: WHCC won the tossand chose to bowl first

Kenton: 192 all out off 47 overs

Wycombe House: 109 all out in 30 overs Result: Kenton win

Skipper Bilal Chaudhry won the toss and elected to bowl first on a decent looking wickets. Bilal ‘Loving it like a McDonalds’ Chaudhry took the new ball along with Yahya Ya Ya Yahya Ya Ya Ya Ya Khan. But the

Kenton batsmen were looking in a positive frame of mind – with the opener charging down the wicket from ball one. But their positive intentions were plugged back as Bilal ‘ who loves Macky ds’ took a couple of wickets. Then Bilal ‘the skipper the boss’ Chaudhry decided to turn to spin and with great affect as himself

and Guarav Chuntani helped to dry up the runs and get amongst the wickets. And it was Gaurav who shone the brightest and with great variations troubled all the batsmen in a fantastic spell of left arm spin bowling – taking 6 for 42.

In amongst the spin our overseas Polish Superstar Dominic Thamby picked up the key wicket of their best

bat who had been dropped several times earlier….one drop was a dolly! Boys we should not be dropping any catches!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dropped catches are costing us matches and valuable points – practice your catching! In the end Kenton were rolled out for 192.

In reply House got off to a disastrous start. Wickets fell with some irresponsible shots….Actually lots of

irresponsible shots….why were we trying to chase down the target in 20 overs when we had 50 plus overs to bat? It was left to youngsters Logan Cullen and Carl Burdett (yes I said youngsters) to steady the ship. Unfortunately Logan fell to well a poor LBW decision – actually very poor – no actually ridiculous LBW

decision – wouldn’t have hit another set of stumps!!! You got to love these umpires….Further wickets fell at rapid pace and House were dismissed for a dismal 113 in a game they should have won. Spectators were left shaking their heads as they left the ground and were heard saying “if only we took our catches we would

have won that match” and “if only our batsman played with more responsibility and batted time and batted the overs”….if only, if only….

Well done to Guarav for taking 6 wkts – he bowled very well!!

Guarav after taking 6 wkts for the 2’s

Third Team –

Bessborough vs WHCC 3s Venue: Bessborough Toss: WHCC won the toss and choose to field first Bessborough: 244-8 in 43 Overs (Dec) (Tade Carmichael 100, Abbas 3-28, Lotia 2-22)

WHCC: 245-5 in 43.5 Overs (Balvir Sehmby 88*, Vasi Sheikh 49, Carmichael 2-36) Result: WHCC gets a WIN by 5 wkts and go back to TOP!! MOTM: Balvir Sehmbi for a match winning unbeaten 88 and 2 wickets.

Report: With slightly overcast yet dry conditions, the WHCC 3rd XI boys travelled to North Harrow to play their away fixture against Bessborough. We were vary of the fact that Bessborough 3s are towards the

bottom of the table and are desperate to avoid relegation and thus they would field a very strong side, and my god they did. Apart from 1 player, none of their other 10 men were 3rd XI players, with 7-8 guys from the 1st and 2nd team and 2 overseas premier league players (1 of which can be found on the cricinfo site as

well). Debutant Abbas Ali and skipper Vasi Sheikh took the new ball and looked good with nice line and lenghth

and troubled the opening batsmen. Abbas struck first with a very good inswinger that took the top of leg stump pitching on middle. Vasi cotinued without much luck from the other end with Abbas again finding a beauty to take their 2nd team left handed opening batsmen. 2 wickets for him and then the assault from the

bessborough number 3 and number 4 began. Their West Indian Overseas player Tade Carmichael took the attack to our bowlers and smashed Vasi and Abbas with some massive shots. Sehmbi came to bowl and he too was treated severely by the big left hander. Abbas was taken off the attack and Vasi brough himself back

on to dismiss their number 4 with a good catch from youngster Prince. Vasi struck again when their number 5 trying to play legside and was caught at square leg beautifully by another youngster Armaan. At drinks the score was on 145-4 in 24 overs and their number 3 batsman still in, WHCC looked set to chase

a big total. With runs leaking from both ends, Vasi decided to take Sehmbi off and took a gamble and brought on Lotia which proved to be a decisive move. Lotia struck in his second over by removing their number 6 Tamil Premier League player who was caught at mid on beautifully by AB (it was a low full toss

smashed to mid on and AB held his nerves to complete a very good catch). On the other end their number 3 bat was still going great guns and reached his 100. Lotia came in to bowl in his 4th over with the field spread in order to not give boundaries, but what followed was a beautiful yorker to the left hander which took his

middle stump. (he tried to dig it out and got a low inside edge on it, but still the ball dragged onto the stump). Lotia screamed in joy and the entire team ran in towards him in delight and more so a massive RELIEF.

Game on now, the big man gone . Lotia off the attack and in came offspinner Jessel who was probably the most unlucky bowler of the day. In every over of his spell a chance went down. Simple catches were dropped off his bowling at short point and/or cow corner. All of a sudden nobody in the 3rd XI could hold any

catches. In total 14 catches went down and it cost us a good part of 50-60 runs. Abbas and Sehmbi finished the innings when Bessborough decided to declare on a very imposing 244 in 43 overs, giving them 49 overs to bowl WHCC out. After the tea break, the WHCC batsmen had only 1 instruction to follow. Lets go for the win. we were chasing 5 runs per over and have done that with ease all season. Lets give it our best and see what

happens. Openers Janaka and Ash Vyas responded to the call with great composure and conc entration. Playing out the new ball with confidence and some good shots along the way. The run rate going around 4 an over for the first 10 overs, but the chase very much on. Janaka got out bowled and in came Sehmbi at 3.

Ash Vyas got out caught at the other end as well and both openers gone at the score on 74-2 in 18 overs. Vasi in at number 4 and straight away hitting 3 boundaries on the trot to make his intentions well clear to the

Bessborough bowlers. The field spread immediately, but Vasi had no plans to stop the assault. Him and Sehmbi struck a boundary in every over their after and going at 6 plus an over. Vasi finally got out in the 31st over for a very attacking 49 and the score stood at 152-3 in 31 overs. A partnership of 78 in 13 overs. Needing 93 in 18 overs now with 7 wickets in hand. AB comes in and got struck plumb in front of his middle

stump and we are 4 down. Abbas Ali in at 6 and continued the partnership with Sehmbi. Abbas hit a quality cover drive to get off the mark off the big west indian offspinner (oh yes, he bowls as well). A good 44 run partnership with Sehmbi and Abbas gets out bowled. In at number 7 is the youngster Armaan making his 3rd

XI debut. With 45 now needing off 11 overs, the run rate seems well in control and the kid played some good defensive shots to get his eye in.

Armaan gets set and hits a great pull shot to get off the mark with a boundary. All this is happening with 1 man standing tall and fighting hard at the other end, the veteran mid 40's returning WHCC player Balvir

Singh Sehmbi. His innings was a combination of power, timing, guts, luck and sheer will to win and not giveup. Hitting 6 massive sixes and 8 beautiful 4's to make an unbeaten 88 against a decent bowling attack showed a lot of character. He single handedly after Vasi got out, took the team home. Some of the shots he

played were awed not just by the boys in the dug out, but the opposition fielders as well. Helped by a few dropped chances, Sehmbi made full use of the situation and showed how to fight and build an innings and purely not to give up. Armaan and Sehmbi finished the game off in 43.5 overs with the winning shot played by the youngster Armaan. The team delighted by the result ran in to congratulate the batsmen and all were jubilat ed by the

outcome. This win clearly showed why the 3rd XI sit on top of the table. Beating oppositions well above their strength, game and experience. A true team effort from everyone. Next match Indian Gymkhana at home!!! Bring it on, REVENGE TIME YET AGA IN Disclaimer: Apologies for the long report but couldn't help but share the experience in detail

Threes go top with 4 games left – a special well done to Vasi & lads – finish the job now boys!!!

TOSS: WHCC won the toss & bowled first Epsom Church CC : 124 all out (Usman 3wkts, Hashim 3wkts) WHCC: 93 all out

We set off to Epsom on a gloomy day hoping the rain would let us play.Found the skipper who informed me he had a strong side which was nice to hear.

We won the toss and put them in on a sticky wicket Ash and Aman took the new ball and produce some great bowling Ash finding his line and length early and having the batsmen in all kinds of trouble which

allowed Aman to take a wicket at the other end. Our fielding was sharp and the bowling was good with Hashim and Usman coming on to take 3 wickets a

piece, Usman finishing with 3 wickets for 5 runs off 3 overs. We restricted the oppo to 124 and was fully confident in chasing the runs down but this did not happen as while we kept up with the run rate we lost wickets continuously and was bowled out for 93 good team effort on a track that was hard to score runs but

some of the dismissals could of been avoided. Sent from @sylviesports
