Assessment and Reporting
Mr HendersonDeputy Headteacher
AssessmentNational Curriculum Levels
National Curriculum Levels range from level 1 to level 8, with level 8 the most advanced. Each level is split into sub-levels that are like the old grade system with 'a' as the best, 'b' in the middle and 'c' toward the bottom of that level. So a 5a is better than a 5c, and a 5c is better than a 4a.
levels are the same throughout infant, primary, junior and secondary school (and are used right up to year 9 before switching to GCSEs) - this means that someone on a 5a in year 9 should theoretically have the same ability as someone on a 5a in year 6.

Expected Progress.
All students are expected to make 2 sublevels of progress in an academic year (e.g. 4a
5b). We have calculated your daughter’s expected progress for each subject based on Key
Stage 2 SAT levels and using baseline assessment data taken from the beginning of Year 7.
Predicted Level
If your daughter continues to work at
the current rate, she is predicted by
her teacher to achieve this level by
the end of Year 7
Attitude to Learning
Staff make a judgement based on
your daughter’s attitude in each
subject.
•= Outstanding
•= Good
•= Requires Improvement
