The company-wide results of this year’s health risk assessment (HRA) are in. Good news – they indicate that together, we’ve made notable improvements in all of the following areas over the last four years. Specifically, they show that we:

WE’RE GETTING BETTER TOGETHER.

Weight management is still a key focus.

3

Two-thirds of employees who completed the HRA (66.5 percent) are considered

overweight or obese. This continues to be our most significant health risk.

We can lower this number together – The Hartford helps by offering a number of

weight management programs. Select the one best suited for your specific needs –

visit www.mywellnessmywork.com for details.

Adults need a primary care physician (PCP) just as much as kids do. Scheduling an annual health exam – and establishing a long-term, ongoing relationship – with a PCP are essential to staying well. Your PCP can help you in a number of ways, including by:

• Providing preventive care and identifying health problems early when they’re smaller and easier to treat;

• Recommending screenings, like mammograms, prostate specific antigen (PSA) tests and routine blood tests;

• Making sure your immunizations are up-to-date (and administering any you may need);

• Providing guidance to help you meet your health goals (e.g., weight loss, fitness or general well-being);

• Treating many chronic medical conditions; and

• Helping you make decisions about health care services or treatment options.

DON’T HAVE A PCP?

You should select one. When you do get sick, you’ll generally pay less to see your PCP than you will at an urgent care center or emergency room. Plus, because your PCP is familiar with your health history, he or she may be better equipped to identify the appropriate treatment options.

Keep in mind these tips in selecting a PCP:

• Stay in-network. If you’re enrolled in The Hartford’s health plan, most preventive care is covered at 100 percent if you visit a physician who participates in the Anthem network. To locate an in-network physician, visit www.anthem.com and choose “Find a Doctor.”

• Find the right fit for you. Select a physician with the expertise and qualifications to meet your needs. In the “Find a Doctor” tool, select “Family General Practice.” You can further narrow your search by specialty, gender and recognitions/awards.

• Search for quality. Look for a physician with a “Blue Distinction Total Care” designation. This recognizes he or she spends more time with patients, coordinates care with other doctors and focuses on the best ways to help you get and stay healthy.

• Do your homework. Check to see if the physician is board certified. You can also find this information by visiting the website of the professional society for his or her specialty. Or you can visit www.Vitals.com to read more about his or her credentials, education and affiliations.

• Consider logistics. Choose a physician whose location and office hours are convenient for you.

• Schedule a consultation. Meet with the physician to discuss your health needs. Prepare a list of questions in advance.

• Trust your instincts. Make sure you’re comfortable with the physician and how you’re treated by the office staff.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED IT.

We all need a little help sometimes. From managing day-to-day stressors to handling life’s more significant challenges, you can be more successful with the right support. The Hartford offers a range of resources to help meet your specific needs – choose the one most appropriate for you.

1 If you’re in The Hartford’s health plan, part or all of the cost of these services may be applied toward your deductible. Once your deductible has been met, you may need to pay a coinsurance amount. See your coverage details in the applicable Summary Plan Description on the Benefits Resource Site.

2 LiveHealth Online® cannot be accessed from Alaska, Arkansas and Texas due to current state laws, but employees who live in these states can still register and use the service when traveling in other states.

As you watch your retirement nest egg grow, it may be tempting to tap into it, especially if you’re in a short-term crunch for cash. Although this may seem like a reasonable solution at the time, it can really stifle your long-term saving success.

Before you take a loan from your 401(k)/Investment and Savings Plan (ISP) account, be aware of these points:

• The interest rate you’ll pay on a loan may be lower than the possible earnings on your account’s investments, so you may miss out on potential investment growth. This could affect monthly income during retirement by hundreds of dollars per month.1

• To pay back the loan, you may be forced to reduce how much you’re contributing to your 401(k)/ISP from each paycheck – or stop contributing altogether – which will reduce your long-term retirement account balance.

• If you default on the loan (don’t pay it back), you’ll be taxed on the outstanding balance and will generally have

to pay an additional 10 percent penalty (if you’re under the age of 59 ½ ).2

• If you borrow from your before-tax savings, you may pay twice the income tax on the money. That’s because you’ll need to pay back the loan (principal plus interest) with “after-tax” income, and then the amount may be taxed again when you withdraw it at retirement.2

If you’ve already taken a loan, try to pay it back as quickly as possible. You can also repay your outstanding loan balance in full at any time. Learn more about your repayment options by calling the HR Service Center at 1-877-HR-AT-WORK (1-877-472-8967) and say “401(k)” at the prompt.

If you need help with your retirement savings strategy or have questions about repaying loans, talk with an Ayco financial coach at no cost to you. Call 1-866-217-8691 for assistance Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or to schedule an appointment for a coach to call you between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET, Monday through Thursday.

IT DOESN’T PAY TO TAP INTO YOUR 401(k).
