We have had a great start to the new school year. Our teachers spent the first 2 days of the school year expanding their professional knowledge, working with Simon from Real Schools on restorave pracces. We began working with Real Schools last year but things were a lile interrupted with COVID, so we are back on track for 2021. Our teachers will be connuing to embed restorave pracces across the school as a way of working with students and helping them to make great choices in all situaons. CLASSES FOR 2021 This year we were able to have students start on the first day in their 2020 classrooms, at the end of the day we placed them in their classes for 2021. This process seemed to work well for all students as they had the familiarity of the students they knew from their class last year and were able to find out who their teacher was for 2021 ready to start on Monday. This year we have welcomed some new and some familiar faces into our school. Mr Browne has returned to us for a 1 year contract working as an Instruconal Leader K-2. Ms Dove has returned aſter some me away and will be supporng student learning as a learning and support teacher and release from face to face teaching on a number of classes. Mr Kennedy is now a permanent teacher at our school and he will be teaching kindergarten . Mrs Buckley is new to our school and will be here on Tuesday s, Wednesdays and Thursdays teaching a number of classes during release from face to face. She will also be running dance/hip hop classes during lunchme for students 3-6, with a possibility of extending that to K-2 later in the year.

Principal Report

Term 1 Week 2 2021

WELCOME BACK TO THE NEW YEAR

We hope that everyone had a lovely break and enjoyed the Christmas and New Year celebrations. We have had a great start to the new school year. Our teachers spent the first 2 days of the school year expanding their professional knowledge, working with Simon from Real Schools on restorative practices. We began working with Real Schools last year but things were a little interrupted with COVID, so we are back on track for 2021. Our teachers will be continuing to embed restorative practices across the school as a way of working with students and helping them to make great choices in all situations.

CLASSES FOR 2021

This year we were able to have students start on the first day in their 2020 classrooms, at the end of the day we placed them in their classes for 2021. This process seemed to work well for all students as they had the familiarity of the students they knew from their class last year and were able to find out who their teacher was for 2021 ready to start on Monday. This year we have welcomed some new and some familiar faces into our school.

Mr Browne has returned to us for a 1 year contract working as an Instructional Leader K-2.

Ms Dove has returned after some time away and will be supporting student learning as a learning and support teacher and release from face to face teaching on a number of classes.

Mr Kennedy is now a permanent teacher at our school and he will be teaching kindergarten .

Mrs Buckley is new to our school and will be here on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s teaching a number of classes during release from face to face. She will also be running dance/hip hop classes during lunchtime for students 3-6, with a possibility of extending that to K-2 later in the year.

SCHOOLS AS COMMUNITY CENTRES (SACC) CONNECT

At the end of last year, as required by the Department of Education, the position of coordinator for our SACC, aka Connect, was advertised. The successful applicant for the position was Tracey Popple, who is an extremely experienced educator in the early childhood sector. We are very happy to welcome her into our community and know that she will be very successful in continuing the wonderful work that Mrs Percy has been doing for the last 5 years as our coordinator. We wish Mrs Percy every success in her new endeavours and we are so thankful for all her hard work and dedication that she has shown over the years. She helped to create a wonderful, welcoming environment for our parents and children prior to starting school. We will keep the community updated about the latest COVID restrictions and what that means for being able to have groups return to onsite.

KIND THOUGHTS, KIND WORDS, KIND ACTIONS. Belinda Doyle (Principal)
