• Site has nearly reached its operational lifespan and strategies are required to reclaim the space for low-impact recreational use.

• Opportunity to increase the City of Welland’spark inventory and create an iconic park within the City’s boundaries

• Offers an opportunity to contribute ecologically to the area between the river and Welland Canal

• Its unique location has excellent potential to become a focal point along the Wellandriverfront

• Presents a unique opportunity to create a space that has passive uses, some minor active recreation possibilities, and a regional draw due to the opportunity for vistas.

Re-Invent is the process that identifies the recreational uses that are compatible

with the repurposed landfill site. This action identifies what the opportunities are to introduce new passive recreation uses such as trails, lookouts for viewing, and ecological enhancement.

Re-Connect is the process of creating new and lasting connections from your

community and the site. People and users make a site vibrant and we want to make it easy for you to access and experience the new park/open space that is created.

Re-Occupy is the process by which the Concept Plan will foster desired physical

change on the site. This requires an understanding of how to design spaces that respond to the current and projected needs based upon program elements and uses. We want to design a place that will attract people and bring activity, vibrancy, and a renewed life to the former Atlas Landfill site. We can help you achieve this!
